hi guys,
my brother owns a CG125 brazil, D reg bike,
He has since passed his test, and spends his time riding round on his ER500 and doesnt give this bike any attention.
The time will come to sell it soon, but the carb on the bike is beyond its best and needs changing. Now with a good manual (which i have) and my dads spanners, and about a days work im happy to sit and do it myself.
However, as im trawling through ebay, i find that there are a few carbs up for sale. So my question is this, or more rather my questions are these:
Carbs is short for the carbaretta? replacing a carberatta would be changing the carbs?
Does the Cg125 brazil have an accelerator pump? some are advertised as not having one????
Would this be suitable? and would the needle be easy/cheap to find?

as always any help appreciated!

| Carburettor. Yes, normally "carbs" as most machines with more than one cylinder have more than one carburettor.

Throttle cable for accelerator pump and main needle.
It varies from model to model, though I think the Brazilian models all do. Have a look at the carburettor you already have, and see if it has a throttle cable attached to the top, and a branch of the cable attached to a pulley wheel on the side. The manual will tell you for the model you have.

That appears to be exactly the same carburettor as the one on my Mum's CG125 BR-J 1993. It should be fine on yours assuming that yours has an accelerator pump originally. As for the needle, the easiest way to get that is either to take the needle from the old carburettor, to buy another carb with it in, or identify what the Honda Part number for it is (from a parts fiche/ manual) and simply order another from somewhere like wemoto or David Silver, over the phone (they won't have it listed on their website).

I would also look at the idea of stripping and cleaning the original carburettor with some decent carburettor cleaner. That could well be cheaper than getting a replacement, especially if it is just gummed up from old perished fuel. You are going to need to remove it anyway, though you can get the needle from it just by unscrewing the top cap.
Spannering time for a novice should be a few hours, an afternoon should do. A few spanners and decent screwdrivers should be enough tools. Try not to disrupt the original carb settings (pilot jet, mixture screw, float height etc), or make sure you know how to set them up from scratch before you alter anything. ____________________ I must not be a troll...
