he'll probably use the excuse that he was driving at a safe speed for the conditions and area and get away with it.

Not sure if this is the correct reading of the article but at the bottom its mentions that the Sgt will have to deal with this as a private individual. So looks like he wont be getting away with it?

I was once driving behind an unmarked police car at about 45 in a 30 zone.

I was tempted to get them to pull over so I could give them a bollocking, but didnt because they wouldn't see the funny side of it and I would probably have got done Neutral
