But I have been thinking….
In my time I have taken the theory test 3 times, once for my car test, I failed, passed second time, I took my theory last week and failed (I had my licence taken if you didn’t know).
I am quite confident about it this time, I have looked through the book again and again, I find all the questions easy as most are common sense, some are harder because they are not everyday occurrences in Britain possibly.
The DVLA are a strange bunch, recently bumping up all the prices, the difficulty and the hassle.
Now, the test I took when I was 17 I really couldn’t fucked, I failed, I wasn’t trying, then I was trying the second time and passed. This time I am very keen to pass obviously as I have been on the road for over 5 years already, I went through the questions 3 times, back over again and checked them.
I was so fucking sure I was leaving the test centre with a smile until I opened the letter…..
Ok, so the theory is controlled by computer, assessed by some droid in a tweed jacket with no emotion and results are handed to you in a sealed envelop. On opening your envelope possibly worth around £20, you find you have passed/failed.
I got 7 questions wrong, I paid £20 did a test and failed, I am told on the paper what ‘sorts’ of questions I got wrong but not exactly what I got wrong.
WTF??
Why cant I see the questions, so I know for next time, hardly fair is it?
Is there valid reason or is it because on the computer they can see my licence history and felt the need to take money from me this time?
I have my theory tonight 6pm.

There's not exactly a million possible questions though. If they say you failed on road markings, just go to that section of the highway code book and memorise it. Hell just memorise as much of the highway code as possible, there's not that much there really. ____________________ Photos and that |

If they told you the answers to the wrong ones you could publish those on the web to help others cheat...
I didnt have to do the theory for my car license but I did for the bike and TBH I didnt find one single question hard as they were all completely common sense(maybe as ive been a driver for 10years).
I dont see what the problem is? You got them wrong, you have to do it again, seems fair to me mate...
Oh, and good luck |

I believe the reason they don't tell you exactly which questions you got wrong is because they don't want you to just turn up and be able to answer specific questions.
What they want is for you to have a broad knowledge of all the things you need to know.
It's the same in any test ... think about it this way. Would you like the doctors that work in our hospitals have a list of all the questions they'll be asked in their exams, so they can just learn the exact answers they need to pass their exams and become a doctor?
No? You'd like them to actually know a little more about medicine and what they're doing?
Well then, this is the same.
The DVLA are nobs though. Good luck with your next test. ____________________ <Simple> no I'm shaven Jon

The cdrom which i used (DSA) every question in the cd was questions that they actually use. I did most of the questions on the cd and got all of them right on the day. |

Have you taken the two tests they have online?
https://www.dsa.gov.uk/mockpaper/theoryintro.htm
I've never had to take the theory for an actual licence, but have done all these online after laughing at people who have failed (no offence killa, laughing at mates or people I work with etc.)
EDIT: Took the HGV one when bored (I've never driven anything bigger than a Transit), and failed spectacularly. Got about 15 right or something. There's a lot more technical information than I thought there would be.....
EDIT2: Also, good luck tonight mate ____________________ - Yeah, you know the type, loud as a motorbike, wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight.

Being selfish about this, tomorrows posts from killa will be far more entertaining if he's failed......

I bought the test book, learnt it parrot fashion, took the test and got 100% correct.
It's a bit like learning to ride/drive: you learn how to pass the test, then go out and learn the 'real world' skills. ____________________ Space Monkey #7

I have taken the trial tests and passed each time easily with no revision. I have been driving a while though.
Anyway thats not the point I have to agree with Killa here there are some pretty inane useless questions.
"After passing your motorcycle test you must exchange the pass certificate for a full motorcycle licence within"
What the fuck has this got to do with being safe and ready to ride on the roads!!!!!!!!

Looks like the Fuzz did the residents of Gloucestershire a favour by revoking your license then
Don't give up - you'll make it, try getting a copy of the vid on CDROM (if you haven't already done so) to enable you to practice and find out where you're going wrong - It might be that you're seeing too many 'potential hazards' as opposed to the few that are contained in the vid and clicking your mouse in too many places, the CDROM will help you iron out your mistakes ____________________ Mellow Yellow

Costing me £60 for these fucking things, no wonder people shop lift. I can hardly afford to live.
This shit licence thing is costing me a fuck load.
