Hello i was wondering if it is a good idea to purchase bikes off ebay. Especially the cheapies around like 50 quid. I have recently noticed cheap HONGDOU or whatever and wondered if anyone has purchased a bike off ebay and is it worth it or are they a box of tricks
Thanks

Kymco are slightly more renowned than these other makes, there are dealerships popping up, which means they must be doing something right.

I can't advise buying a new Chinese bike. A Kymco maybe, but they are more expensive.

If I were you, I'd go for a renowned, 2nd hand bike.

Don't ask me why I noticed, but that well-renowned piece of trade press, the MCN, ran something about Hongdou last week, comparing with a Yam. Anyone not used theirs to line the garage floor with yet?

mine was fine from ebay for about a month. I bought a kangda zs125 its a copy of a gs 125. After about a month i started getting a little misfire now and again but it got progressively worse! now its chucked round the back after many hours of tinkering with it and still no better!. Personally i wouldnt touch another one as its far too difficult to find parts for and most garages wont touch them so beware Thumbs Up

It might be a good idea, if you are buying brand new, to check that the eBay seller is a registered business, and that the manufacturer will honour the warranty (if one is offered), and check carefully what the delivery options are, if any.

I ride a Chinese bike. A Vulcan Harrier - in fact I've just come back from the dealer, as I took it in this morning to be serviced. I like my bike very much, I bought it new in August. Altough I did not buy it on eBay, but from the showroom.

Hi,

Kickstart has bought bikes on ebay, but if is much money go an look at it first it no good getting there and changing your mind !

If you getting a odd make find out what spares you can get, is there a workshop manual available. Does it share parts with a known make ?

Then its down to how much you are prepared to risk. If you could get a good odd make really cheap, you could sell it spares if it broke maybe

Regards
C
