Well, its back online.

But considering how long its been down, its bloody shite. The way they have linked different section is shoddy and seemingly hap-hazzard. Its not very clear, and really lets itself down. Am dissapointed in what is basically the only nationwide motorbike clothing/accessory store.
Just look at the section for "apparel". Theres no clear place to look at 1 or two piece leathers, or infact textiles. Looks like the office junior did it all as an IT GCSE project Rolling Eyes

Really could do better: D+ Thumbs Down

Agreed. I went on it just now and was amazed it took so long to get that piece of shit running. There are bugs everywhere.

Incidentally, have they even got a 'UK' version running yet? Or is it only the € site for now?

Email them that mate.

In a nicer way.

Got to give these folk some constructive criticism otherwise they and others will get nowhere.

I won't bother going to their site, I don't want to be disappointed. Sad

I'm bloody disappointed guys.

You spent an unacceptably long amount of time getting this new site up and running; and after all that, I much preffered the old one. This new site is shoddy and poorly built.

Just a bit of 'constructive criticism' for you. Stop fannying around trying to make the site look pretty (which by the way, you haven't done that well either) and make a simple, easy-to-use site which tells us what we need to know and lets us search easily. And ditch this flash playing all the time at the top! It's annoying!

All the best.

satisfactory sigh...

Laughing

And they reply "thanks for your email, we'll take your thoughts into consideration" when they actually think "the guy said its shit but mentioned no way to make it better, he gave us no details, fuck it, we'lll ignore him"

ok heres the first draft:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you to express my deep disappointment in your new website. Having waited patiently for almost a year for your website development to be completed, I am utterly under-whelmed. It would seem that the office junior has been left in charge of the whole project.
I do not wish to insult anyone involved in the project, but the layout and content of your new website is shoddy. This disappoints me as Hein Gericke is the only nationwide motorcycle clothing and accessory store in the UK and I would expect more from you. As such your website should exude a sense of quality and experience in the market, rather than that you are not interested in online customers and have used the said office juniors GCSE IT project as your web template.

For example, the links to item types within your menu’s are hap-hazard and unclear. You do not have section links to obvious things like 1-piece or two piece leathers within the apparel section. Infact you do not differentiate between any kind of you suits, be they leather or textile, 1 piece or two piece, jackets or jeans. Nor are your sections divided by manufacturer, which is possibly the most obvious feature to overlook.
This makes searching your website completely unintuitive and a chore.

As I have said, I do not wish to insult those responsible for the engineering of the website, but it looks unfinished and unprepared for use. This, after almost a year of being offline, is unacceptable. The fact that the website seems so shoddy will not earn you many frequent users if any, as it does not instill confidence in the transaction. This combined with the sometimes dubious customer service in store (by this I mean customers being ignored when they obviously need assistance), will see many people looking elsewhere to smaller outfits to purchase their gear and accessories.

Please take the office junior off of your IT department’s executive staff and create a decent website worthy of a decent chain of stores.I hope this is seen a constructive critiscism and gives you some perspective on the short comings of your website

Yours Sincerely,

Robert Bridgens

I'd imagine they're well aware that it's a state. It'll be a 'soft launch' by the agency that built it, cunningly timed to avoid some massive penalty clause in the contract.

It really is awful!

So much scrolling, no obvious links to the kit, and the page doesn't resize so I have to scroll sideways too... Very irritating!

It uses osCommerce. Laughing Laughing Why's that funny? Well it's an open source freebie with limited features. I've avoided it using it for clients who are family run businesses, let alone huge international companies. Shocked

Laughing I was really cocking up a lot that night, not seeing your 'shoddy'. But no I didn't really think that, was only playing. It's certainly likely to get a better reception than mine..

Maybe its a deliberate ploy as on-line purchases probably create a lot of problems such as returns due to poor fit.

In their defence the UK part of the site DOES state that "This site will shortly be superseded by a fully integrated web portal showcasing our entire range of clothing and accessories and including a host of informative and interactive features."

Having said that, it's been completely offline for more than long enough to set up a decent online shop?!
