Bloody pointless! They sit there empty, while you're expected to filter around the bollards and between cars, cos a bike isn't allowed to use them!!

Winds me up!!!! Middle Finger

Got my second letter for using a bus lane yesterday, at this rate I may as well drive to work!
Thumbs Down

One of the many reasons I love Bristol!

Bikes in almost every bus lane - all clearly signposted! Busses tend to hold you up though!

Bus lanes are the biggest waste of space on our roads. If our buses ran on time, every time, then I can see the point of making sure they don't get delayed but they don't, they're often late or even cancelled. Waste of bloody space.

Cheers

The differences between the signs are minimal.

Get yourself a can of spray paint, a stensil, borrow Siggi's balaclava and you'll be able to use them in no time.

There's a one in Swindon that's split in two by a junction and the first part of it, about 10-20 metres long approaching a pedestrian crossing, is signposted to indicate motorcycles can use it, but then the next part of it after the crossing, about 50metres long, is signposted just for buses and bicycles. Confused

Exactly the same in Reading. Car drivers never look in the bus lane before they dive across it, and they are covered in diesel. Thumbs Down

No motorcycles allowed in them here in Bedford.

There are some cycle tracks, which run contra to one way systems, and then join bus lanes, but they are deadly, as car drivers, perhaps understandably, just don't expect to see bicycles emerging at that exit which appears to feed into a one way street on a roundabout.

I'd like it if motorbikes could use the bus lanes here. The layout I've described above, would be easier on a motorbike, as I'd have the acceleration to merge easily. I've attempted it on my Royal Mail bicyce, but it's a mare.

Don't forget the purpose of bus lanes is to maximise congestion and fuel used by slow moving stop-start traffic.

Newcastle seems to have a large amount of no-car lanes instead of bus lanes. Problem is they quickly become van and wagon lanes Mad

And when you cross the river into Gateshead they all change into bus only lanes. You would think they would have some commom traffic plan since they are only seperated by a bloody river.

Is this true or have you just not been pulled yet so you're presuming?? I use them in Brum anyway, at times even the pavement is fair game if i'm in a rush.
