I have a 1997 bandit 600. The problem is that i am unable to start the bike. I think it has something to do with the cold weather. Any suggestion.

does the bike try to go at all or is it dead? it could be electrical or check that your chokes work.

check your spark plugs or check to see colour of spark. white spark is good. check your carbs are not dirty, making sure that bike is getting petrol. also does the engine turn over? if all else fails get it to the doc. Thumbs Up

my bike unless their is maximum charge in the battery or from a booster pack connected to the battery sometimes wont start in the cold even if the starter is turning the motor at a nice speed. Starts in half a second with a ful battery maybe try that either bump starting it (3rd gear let the clutch out at a steady slow run) or get a booster pack on it.

Thought my electrics had gone the other day, turns out I'd stopped in a hurry and left teh bike in gear. Came back, turned the key and nothing (cos the side stand was down) Point being, have you checked the side stand switch, is it working, maybe a spray with WD40

Forget carb icing, you won't get that when you first try to start it up. You've got to check whether you're getting a spark and fuel, then take it from there, there's too many things it could be to guess without more information as regards spark and fuel.

Im sure you do already, but full choke with no throttle starts my bike everytime. It used to struggle starting up in the cold but now its fine.
