Hello All

Here's a onboard video of my trackday at Brands last July. It's my 4th Time round there and I've been riding a 2 years now (late starter to bikes). The view is from the instructors bike and my bike is the one with the large S on the back and green bib.

https://homepage.ntlworld.com/leon.clayton/bike/brands18thjuly.divx 45 Mb sorry.

I so enjoy doing this now but can`t seem to break the 54 sec barrier on the Indy circuit.

This is the fast group session, i was slow on the first visit but after 3 more visit confidence is high.

Come back warm weather.

My first post of many to come. Glad i found this web site.

Hello all

Mate, that is an absolutely brilliant vid!
Were all those other riders in the same fast group as you? You (and the instructor) were absolutely ripping your way through that pack!

I did enjoy the bibs everyone was wearing. Looked like everyone was dressed as super heroes with capes lol Laughing

By the way, for those scared of the 45mb download, the upload rate at the other end is very good. I got it in 4 minutes on a 1mb connection Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Great stuff, keep em coming!

Cheers bud.

all the riders were in the fast group but depending on the track day people can over estimate their speed. If i go to a new track i always go in the begineers to get your bearings. you can always move groups on the day and there should be NO stigma attached. It aint racing. (Honest, lol)

Did you notice the bit at the end where the instructor bounces slightly off a student. Back in the pit lane there was a small tussle over that as it marked the blokes R1.

na, it was the blue one going around druids, just after paddock hill bend he hit.

For a first track it is very good, quick to learn, good rymthm and paddock hill should scare/thrill anyone. It was my first and still is my favorite. The dip after paddock is so good your heads on the tank and the air leaves your lungs as you are sqashed against the tank, Smile

Get good tires!

Didn't have the codec for the vid, though you're faster than me round there.

However, I would say it is a lot less easy to learn how to take the corners than most tracks. Yes you can work out which corners go left and right quickly (unlike silverstone for me Embarassed), but all the corners are pretty technical corners, as opposed to soemwhere like snetterton that has much more basic lines to get used to.
Thus I would suggest it's not the ideal first time track.

ummmm , i take your point. But

I hate silverstone cos i highsided comming onto hanger straight and you only get 3 laps on a session.

It`s a personal thing.

Oh definitely wouldn't suggest Silverstone as a first track as it has both technical corners and lots of them, so even worse.

Mentioned silverstone with the smiley because I twice forgot the nuimber of the corners in the complex and ended up taking a shortcut!

Nice vid.

If that's the fast group, with the way you're cutting through it you should be racing!

The stroker was an RS125 with a 16 year old onboard, nice lad who was trying his hand. Shared the garage with him.

I would love to do a season but there are a few probs.

1. bike is a 750 so what class to enter.
2. an accident is only a matter of time and i`m the main breadwinner.
3. i can manage a 54 sec but the guys on the R6 cup have a record of 50seconds for that circuit!

i`ll stick to the track days until i get rich, lol.

I have thought about hill climbs or joining BEMSEY, but unless you can sign up for a whole season they will pick you last. So thats 12 weekends with all the running costs. Sad

The r6 cup is national class racing (kinda) with a definitely national class prize.

You may well be grided last for the first race if you do a few bemsee rounds, however there are four races in a weekend and the following ones are based on your last race finisihing position.

A 54 second /best/ lap would have got you in place 30 out of 35 in power bikes this year at the first Bemsee race at brands.

However, if you're still happy with trackdays, I'd stick with them, especially if money's an issue.

My best time there was a 56.5 or so, I managed a top ten finish at Lydden, however I had fairly serious bike issues meaning I couldn't get any decent practice in - and have crashed at Brands much more than any other track.

I only remeber a sensation of the bike moving away from me , then waking up in the recovery centre 20 mins later. Not much bike damage but my head was shite for over a week.

broken collar bone sounds nasty:-(

Nice video, enjoyed watching that. Interesting to see the proper lines rather than my slightly dodgy ones there in January Laughing
