Varadero isn't trail/enduro style...

Also the Hyosung Comet is pretty big for a 125. Both fairly similar.

Almost all 125's are bikes built to 2/3 scale. It's why a normal sized person looks so silly on one (not that that stops me. Smile )

They simply don't have the power to lug that extra weight about, and mostly don't need the wheelbase, weight and stability for long distance touring. Above all, they need to cost a lot less, and the primary importance seems to be fuel efficiency and never breaking down for a lot of the tiddly Hondas.

If you want a CBF500, pass your test and get one. Razz As it is, the Aprilia RS125 and the Varadero 125 are the only 125's I've seen which I thought were larger machines.

for comparison:

the comet 125 is a similar size frame to the 650 bandit rivalling 650 comet.

sure, best way to see what is going to work for you is to have a sit on one. They do tend to be the learner bike of choice with those a little longer in the leg though. However, apparently build quality maybe isn't as robust as it should be, and second hand they depreciate rapidly. However, that didn't stop me from wanting one.

someone in exchange/mart is selling a comet 125 Thumbs Up Good sized bikes, and economical, if a little slow (65mph)

The cagiva planet looks like a decent sized bike, too. I saw one in the flesh, and from the front it looks like a hornet kind of size. It's a 2t, too, so 100 mph fun...

Those hyosung comets are awesome 125's... and they're v-twins Thumbs Up

They're 4 stroke so you get reliability, buy they will still do 70mph I think and that's all you need!

It's probably a better choice of 125 than a RS125 or Mito etc, if you don't mind it not looking like a sports bike (which is cool untill you pull away, or until they see the little exhaust, or the thin tyres... Wink )

Plus the V-twin and quite large exhaust look nice Thumbs Up

i ride a comet and im 6'1 and not the smallest lad in the world, and i find the comet very comfy and i dont look massive on it.

nice bike but as people say, if you want the 500, spend that money on getting the test done and then go searching for your 500

im resitting my test in january but i dont have a bike right now.
my instructors school have CBF500s for DAS lessons/tests and i like the comfort of its size.

i want a bike now cos i think i failed my test on the u-turn just because i hadn't ridden a geared bike for 6 weeks previous (been stuck on this damned scooter) and only had about 20 mins on the 500 before my test started Sad so wasn't adjusted to it.

i would actually prefer a 600/750 after i pass my test but a 125 like the comet would be good for now.

may end up getting a trail bike that im going to see in the morning.

anything to get back on a bike Smile

The varadero is actually quite big, i'm 5'8 (not tall but not midget like) and it would have been a struggle if i'd been shorter it would have been a struggle..

Its got a road presence most 125's don't have which makes them allot safer imo.

They aren;t a bad bike to start with at all, very easy to lear on and extremely easy to handle, cg125 is a deathtrap compared Shocked
