I really can't be bothered to change the stupid thing, what would I get if a sharp eyed rozzer spotted it? It's rediculous as the letters on this thing are actually bigger than they are on a legal sized plate. It's not like it's a small plate either:

do the same rules for cars apply to bikes in regard to the colour? on certain older cars you can have a black bumber plate mine's a 1980 year bike so bound to be within that bracket. Might look good black with white letters not sure. ____________________ -=[Sam/b]=- cx500's the only way to travel, we do it in style just like jimmy saville

Mines sightly smaller than that and l was stopped by traffic filth who were trying to do me for everything under the sun and they did,nt pick up on the plate, which its not much smaller than a legal one anyway.
compaired to some peoples plates on here (Siggi,s ) yours is fine even with the carbon fiber lettering. ____________________ Past:NRG50,AF1125(x2),NSR125RR,ZZR250,CX500,VFR400,KR1S,ZZR600(x2),CB400N,YZF1000(x2),KH125,Z200,FX400R,CBR954RR(x2)GPZ500S,GT550,VFR750F(x2),RD350N,XR650R,CBR600F,CB250,KDX250,YZF750R,CRM250,400EXC,KLR650,TTR600RE,DR350S,R100GSPD,RGV250,VMAX1200,DL650,KZ750 Present:G650XC,C12,CRF450X,1190ADV |

no loop holes in the law for older bikes by any chance is their? I suspect whoever put that plate on the bike it was legal when they done it just I have better things to spend money on than that plate cry's. minimum of 3 points can't be right bald tyres is 3 points max on a car unless it was stupid small. I wonder if I could paint over the carbon lettering if that's illegal aswell as the size with black paint as not to attract their attention to it (probably attract their attention even more if it's not painted on straight
You can see the lettering on mine is bigger than this legal plate silly aint it:

No points
They can tell you to put a new one on and fine you £30, if they catch you a few times they withdraw your registration, putting your bike on a Q plate, making it worth about 6p

As well as a fine, they can also issue you with a notice to have the bike taken to an MOT station to have your new, legal plate checked.
A 1980 bike is allowed a 3 line plate marginally smaller than the current standard (not as much as makes any real difference).
The cutoff for silver on black is 1971/72 as I remember. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

That's got to be illegal with those faces over the letters.
Here is the info (AGAIN) on what is and isn't legal.
