kawasaki zepher 1100 hassle

just bought zepher 1100 92 year bike but it had a few problems which i sorted now whats happening is when i rev the bike through the gears and go past 4000 revs or 5000 it starts to flat patch now some people are telling me that if the clocks are not of a zepher 1100 and 92 model that the engine and clocks are linked that this might happen so if the clocks were off a zepher 750 there no way of knowing has this happened anyone thanks for any help

Try balancing the carbs.

I've found a flat spot occasionaly between 4-5k on my '92 cb750 its normally fixed when i balance the carbs.

The clocks story seems unlikely on a 13 year old bike.
Unbalanced carbs are more often diagnosed from uneven tickover, but worth trying.
