a significant power difference as for christmas my bro wants to get me a K&N air filter, i already have a remus gp can on it and have found a place not far from me that will put a dynojet kit on it and set it up on a rolling road for not that much £ so thought i might as well seeing that it will have a air filter and can on it, but will i notice a real power difference ??

Because you know they're there, you probably will.

If it was fitted and no-one told you, I wouldn't be surprised if you were none the wiser.

This is known as the 'Optimax Effect'. Smile

You won't notice a huge power gain, however if the dyno operator is any good then the bike will come back feeling much nicer to ride. DJ kit and filter coupled with a freer exhaust moves power around more than "gives" it, if you follow me (although you'll certainly gain a few horses, nothing astronomical though).

Leastways that's my experience, granted that's mainly from 80's/early 90's machines though.

Will the K&N make a noticable difference? No, not at all.
The Dynojet kit and dyno setup will though, that's well worth doing.

The dyno jetting could make the bike feel a fuck load faster.

an air filter might give 1% more power, same for a race can, but set the bike up to runs with them and you will get a 5% increase in power rather than a 2% increase.

dyno jetting can also solve any existing problems, sometimes making your bike not only as powerful as it should be, but slightly more so.

on the average bike however, most of the increased power you think you can feel just comes from a different power curve giving you less mid range and more top end, so it feels like its got alot more kick to it.

I have a full Micron system, KN, and Dynojet stage 1 fitted. Compared to my old stock ZXR it feels a lot sharper.

And the sound is incredable. Crack it open at 7k, you get a roar from the airbox, closely followed by the roar of the exhaust getting louder and louder Cool Thumbs Up

I heard one of the main (if only) improvements a K&N can give over a stock (questioned for one for my RVF and also my Blade) was that they were washable - so cheaper in the long run (instead of replacing each time).

There's not one in the Blade atm because of this (plus the OE one is spotless).

Try a tuned 810 (GPz, inline 4) engine with individual pod filters and a well setup stage 3 kit. Not only is it an unearthly noise, you can almost feel your scotum being dragged toward the seat when they kick in properly Cool
