Yep from me. Thumbs Up

Rim tape adds alot more character to the wheels which is cool as they are usually quite boring. Kind of like a girl without makeup. Smile

As much as tarting annoys me, I do think they finish off the bike nicely, certainly in the above picture. I still don't like them though. Laughing

Nah.

I don't think they're very "you" Exclamation If that means anything. Your bikes look good because they seem to 'look' untarted. Smile

It's just another sign of a tarty bike, to me. If I see rim tape, I start looking for carbon fibre add-ons. Those really make me laugh, all the muppets who think that carbon fibre 'saves weight'. Only if you're replacing something with carbon, not adding it to the bike. Do they think it has negative mass? Rolling Eyes Very Happy

Cheers

Grim

usually not a fan of rim tape, but in this case as the bike stands think it makes it look better, onces seeing in with tape and then not the one with out looks like its missing something, though its the sutle touch that does it and if you add many more tarty bits is will look too much on the bike

Thanks for the response. I guess rim stripes aren't permanent, so if it looks naff, I'll just peel them off.

I had previously added rim stripes to my RVF (a few months before powdercoating them), looked quite smart - but the modification ethos was different to the Blade's (mini-race rep instead of full blown road-sportsbike (and had one off carbon parts (for cosmetic reasons) which the Blade won't be getting)).

Looks cool, bought me some tyre flys so I get similar effects at night.

Modifying can be a little 'chav', especially here in Essex.

That's actually a joke that a few of us share when we see a boi racer with carbon fibre stickers or whatever - "phwoar, that carbon sticker over the radiator grill must reduce about 20 stone" Laughing

Now that's made things a lot easier - I've posted a similar thread on a couple of other forums and the answer's become the same - 50/50. Confused

rim tape? thats unexpected!

Polished rims on the other hand would have been much more in line with your love of polishing parts of the bike that tend to get the most filthy! Laughing

lol, couldn't polish the rims without getting another set - I don't want to permanently compromise the originality of the bike.

The Yoshi pipe has allready done that Laughing Wink

Go for the rim stripes, they look good, and you can allways remove them if you change your mind.

grey, white or silver though?

Rim tape is to a bike what blue led car window washers are to a car, a cheap tacky mod.

Just my opinion. Karma

Funny how fashions go round. Back in the 1950's 'coach lines' were the thing to have on your vehicle. You used to take it round to an old feller who had a great long paintbrush (8" long). He would dip it in the paint of your choice then do a perfect 'stripe' round or along the detail of your choice.

Still a few of these guys going about, I saw one do the stripes on a mate of mines Bonneville petrol tank. Took him all of 30 seconds, charged 40 quid (£20 per stripe) but the result was very impressive and not so prone to peeling off.
