Does anyone else seem to get random thoughts into their heads when they are riding?

I was taking a nice blast up to cambridge today, and due to the concentration i was enduring to make it along the A14 alive... i seemed to be thinking things, without actually thinking about them.

Then for no apparent reason i would suddenly tune into my thoughts, and realise how pathetically random and stupid they were.

For instance, one such thought was about roads... what if the roads moved instead of the bikes? When your wheel span, it moved the earth and roads around... and you didnt actually go anywhere, the place came to you... Confused

Then it moved onto me having breasts... that was an odd one, then the final straw was when i realised i had been singing Shania Twain "That Dont Impress Me Much" for the past 1 1/2 mins... (i know it was 1 1/2 mins as i was past the first chorus and waaaay into the second verse...) Confused

Anyone else seem to think up random things whilst riding?

Lay off the medication and go see the docotr first thing in the morning.

I tend to start along a train of thought and continue it throughout the ride. by the time i get to my destination i'm normally so perplexed and deep in thought i forget what i was actually going there for Laughing

That sometimes happens when I'm too muffled from the wind/ cold/ sound. I have enough space to think randomly when there isn't any noise, and after a while of that, it's a bit easy to forget how to countersteer properly and run wide on a bend. Embarassed

Daydreaming is bad for you. Confused

It depends on your point of view. The rotation of the wheel with the friction of the tyre cause relative motion between your bike and the road. Whether the road is moving or the bike is moving depends on where you are looking from.

there are no fixed points in space just frames of reference. the earth is moving while you ride on it but from your perspective it doesnt move.

take up reading about quantum mechanics (physics) if you want to fry your brain.

I do this on my commute, I've done it maybe 200 times, and when it's early in the morning,I know the roads so well; like I know where the drain covers are and where it'd be sticky if a car came up on me, I tend to drift off. I'm still paying attention as such, but not really consciously. I don't really remember my thoughts for long either, but it's mostly musings on the day ahead or the day before; pointless stuff.

Sure sign of boredom really; change your route!

I get that on boring roads, or roads I know well.

I start rapping to myself and begin talking about "your mother" and how she "has a penis". Or I begin commentating on my surroundings and make up weird songs.

I once found myself imagining that dude from Magnum in a cheesey porn film, I dont know how I arrived at that, and frankly would rather forget the entire situation occured.

Ever find yourself going down a long straight road and suddenly think "shit? what just happened for the last 5 miles I cant remember Neutral"

The only Australian Christmas stuff that comes to mind from when I was younger is Kevin Bloody Wilson:

Would be great to try that to get off a speeding ticket, "Sorry officer, I was sat stationary on the road when you and the Earth came zooming past at 110 mph."

I might tune my bike up so it will reach near light speed, then everytime I go out for a ride I will come back younger.

If Stephen Hawking had been a chav pedboy he would have been on here boasting:

Look out for him on the next episode of Pimp My Wheelchair. They fit under seat neons and spinners to the wheels.

You think that is concerning! The other day me and my girlfriend were coming back on the M4 in the car after doing some Christma shopping when suddenly she put her hand on the handbrake and goes "what do you think will happen if I put the handbrake on whilst you are on the motorway?".

I was like "Uh, I dunno, let's not try it out though."

The real scary thing is that she passed her driving test a month ago. Shocked

You might be younger compared to everyone else, but you won't actually be any younger, and still would have aged slightly. Razz

I'm either too busy dodging cars/kids/curbs/wildlife to actually think about anything whilst I'm riding. Hence why I can do things like get to college and then realise I don't actually have my backpack on Rolling Eyes

Or I'm out at 5am going to work, thinking "I wish I was in bed" and trying to work out how much overtime I'm doing. Infact I do sums quite a lot whilst riding Confused
