Girlfriend has never been pillion on my bike - I've offered and she's said yes numerous times but never acually done it... I know her uncle was involved in quite a serious bike crash though.

Although I lift-share in Bristol with my (female) housemate, and another female housemate has also ridden on the back and enjoyed it! I give her lifts if we're going during rush-hour or to somewhere where parking is a nightmare, and she'll give me lifts (in her car) at other times (for example, when I had 2 subs to collect from a theatre!).

Either would be fucking brilliant, a girlfriend that understood biking and didnt think you rode a deathtrap would be good... But a girl who has her own bike is better as i tend to get carried away on my own and wouldnt want to be risking someone else all the time.

I'd rather she went pillion as if there was a crash, at least we'd both be in the same boat- id hate to think shed be lying somewhere and i wouldnt know about it! Confused

Am not one of those guys who cant handle their girlfriend being more successful or earning more money than me, way i see it if she earns more than me she can pay for everything including mine and her bike, its nearly 2006, with women being independant n all! Razz

I'd rather she could enjoy biking from her own perch. Riding is much better than going pillion, and two bikes is much better than one. Sharing the passion for riding properly requires you both to ride, not just one ride and the other hang on. Add the extra coolness on to that and you're probably onto a winner, unless you base getting a shag on giving pillion rides.

i got me Girlfriend her CBT and she will be doing her DAS next year at sometime, i would prefer her to get her own bike so we can go out together but i dont like the thought of what has happened to me and me friends on bikes happeing to her. Crying or Very sad

Given the choice, I'd go for a girl that rides her own bike. That's more to do with me not really liking taking pillions though.

There should also be an option of "I'll take what I can get".

A girl who didnt constantly refer to my bike as "the death machine" and make constant plans to sell it would be nice. If she had a bike of her own then technically you would have access to two bikes, best scenario would be for her to buy something that I cant afford like a 675 then name me as a rider! woo hoo! Well, a good post for me really, my mrs "the mrs" has her own bike, but loves going on mine, i also like her with me, as then i know shes 'safer'
I think when shes on hers, if its infront or behind i get a little worried when i set off, or a cars are at a junction and its not going to see her, the usual stuff that a new rider may not notice.

In this weather shes usualy hops on mine as he doesnt like ice, its that and being lazy and being able just to sit there doing nothing Razz

But yes, i prefer her on the back of the bike.
