Because I didn't go up the inside on a single lane roundabout when I was going left and the car infront was signaling right??????

The examiner put it down as not paying attention to other users roads signals?????

It seems abit of a harsh thing to fail me on! That was my one major I had a few minors wobbles on the emergency stop and u turn. But none for the singaling or observations.

Anyway I booked a retest for ASAP and it's on the 5/01/05. Whats really annoying me is that I have a bandit 600 locked in the garage that I can't use!!!

You sure thats what he failed you on? Surly he cant as that sounds like hes making you filter? Less there was another lane that he was half in or somthing? Complain if thats the case!

What you mean minor wobbles on the emergency stop? Did you put your foot down on the u turn? Did you make all observations for it and the walk it round?

Did you go out of control or not take the bike to the side of the road on the emergency stop?

I was a in a similar situation when i failed my test with a VFR750 waiting in the garage, so i know how you feel.

There are some things you cant practice for, and some things that you can. As long as you make sure that all the things you can practice, you practice to death, thats the best you can do.

Just dont give up, it IS worth it!

Good luck for next time.

i failed a few times doing DAS, one time i failed because i was not always 1 meter from the curb, i thought that was harsh and i was driving in the middle of the lane, he put it down to poor road positioning. Always stay in the left lane if you dont have to be in middle or right don't bother

That was the reason he gave and that was my one major he said I did it twice and the first time he overlooked as it was really busy but the second time was wrong appaerantly there was enough room to go through I just didn't want to undercut on my test. I didn't put my foot door on the u turn I was a bit wobbly in the second part and the emergency stop I locked the back up a bit. I also was to far over in a slip road coming off an a road and hit a dodgy bit of road(chunks out of it and wobbled abit which shook me up and caused me to try to pull away in neutral which I got 3 minors for.

In total 1 major 9 minors none for obseveration or singaling though.

It sounds like youve been unfairly done by mate, perhaps he had picked up on a few borderline faults and he just thought you werent ready.

Dont let it knock your confidence though, its just one of those things - they can be quite ickle these instructors. I got 1 minor on my test for swerving to avoid broken glass on the road 'over-reacting to a hazard'. He also mention he didnt like giving clean sheets!

So go get it rebooked and ace it. Then go home and enjoy the bandito!

Good luck Thumbs Up Wink

When I did my CBT the instructor told me to ride in a dominant position i.e. in the middle of your lane.
He said the only reason to stay 1m from the curb is if your on a bike that cannot do the speed limit your in so you don't hold up the traffic by blocking their view and making it harder for them to overtake you i.e. a 30 mph moped in a 40 or 60 mph zone.
I don't see why you should have been failed on your test definately a bit on the harsh side. Perhaps the tester had some other reasons and used this as an excuse to put a fail beyond doubt ?.
Luck on the day I suppose.

I think if you have got 9 minors he was probably starting to get a bit suspicious. We know it was nerves and so does he probably, but he has to be certain. Never mind, you will know for next time. Thumbs Up

To be honest the 'staying 1 metre from the curb' is total bullshit. You only ever ride like that once and thats on your test. In the real world you need to use all of the road, its nice to be able to see whats up ahead, and avoid all the shit thats at the side of the road. Being on the far right of your lne allows you to see further around left handers and vice versa. Its time someone changed the fucking blinkered view the DVLA have.

Let's face it. How many of us on here have failed first time ?

Well, I'm just one of you. And it's not a nice feeling, I think we'd all agree. But, the majority of us have picked ourselves up and tried again, and again and again if we've had to, until we passed Thumbs Up

I personally was thankful for the positive support I got from everyone else on here. I knew I'd done something wrong and I deserved to fail the first time.

So, sod all this 'sue them for this, sue them for that' malarkey. Our Examiners have been riding bikes far longer than us and they're there to make sure we're safe on the road.

Just get your test re-booked and I, like lots of others here, wish you the very best for your next one Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I would be ok about failing if I did my test and know I did something wrong, But I still think I desevered to pass and didn't see my major as even a minor, which I think is worse. But I have to pass this time I MUST I couldn't stand to see my bandit not moving anymore Sad

I have no resentment to the examiner at all, I don't understand I do feel I have been hard done by but I don't see it as the examiners fault Confused Oh well lets just get on with the next test.

Hi
Sorry to hear the bad news.
My Brother is a driving instructor and he has on more than one occasion said that it is wrong that examiners have a quota to meet on test passes.
This means that once the examiner has met his or her quota they are not allowed to pass anymore people that week.
Try and get your test booked for a monday or a tuesday as I am sure that it will be the same for bike tests as it is for car tests.
The earlier in the week you take your test the more chance you have of passing it as the examiners will not meet their pass quota until about thursday or friday.
Good luck next time around

My instructor used to be an examiner (but decided there was more money in owning his own riding school). He told me that the quota thing is an urban legend and completely rubbish.

Anyway, more importantly,
