Just got back from amsterdam, and i'm going to assen for the GP next year.

My planwas to ride to amsterdam and stay in a hostel for a night, get up early for the gp, blaze it up in the sun at the GP then back to amsterdam for another night before returning home in the morning.

Can't fucking wait! Very Happy

I would have done if my exams weren't smack bang around that date. Sad

Went a few years ago (500cc GP) - they have the 'Assen TT' weekend with other races on as well - or did then.
There are plenty of campsites near there set up for the weekend and seemed to be quite a good atmosphere.

I would definitely be interested. Usually glastonbury is on at the same date, but not next year.

Note that there's only one coffee shop in Assen (or one that we could find at least, maybe a few more, but not many), so best to stock up on the way.

This is presuming bemsee doesn't change the dates for my racing of course.

I'd definately be up for that, as long as theres an amsterdam stop off on the way.

Note that i'm a poor bastard, what would a trip like this cost?

Thinking about it, would i legally be allowed to ride there? Seeing as i'm 17. I'm thinking not.

Why not?
Just had a quick look at prices, found one for £102 just for the crossing.

For me the GP is just a good excuse to go to amsterdam, roar round on my bike and get wasted Very Happy

Anybody know about the rules with regard to driving in amsterdam? there are very few car's there, so do you need a permit or something?

There are no rules about driving in Amsterdam. If you're going to ride there then I wouldn't worry about getting a return ferry ticket.

I don't believe that you need any type of permit, you just need a death wish and a E111.

There's no such thing as an E111 any more, it's an EHIC now.

You not tempted by being able to nip down to barney's to try the canabis cup winner on your bike?

I'm just going to amsterdam for a few days and if i can get to the GP Laughing

But one of the best things about Amsterdam is the free public transport system!

[thread hijack]
Is anyone interested in going to 'dam sometime in March probably for four days and three nights, flying Easyjet (£31 currently) and the hotel is about £30 each per night for three people sharing a room?
