im 16 and on a piaggio NRG...im thinking ahead a few months to wat to do next....get a 125? derestrict the bike.

If i got a 125 the few models i like are honda LS, Derbi GPR, Cagiva Mito....im quite a big lad..6ft 2 to be exatct! but if i FULLY derestreicet the bike i have will it be worth lass when i try and sell it later?

any help would be GREAT Thumbs Up

Take your test and buy a 250/400/500?

Why is it young lads seem to think that the reason a 125 is slow is because its restricted? and that de restricted 125's are sooooo fast?

I mean i went for my test at 20 and i had no interest in a 125 at all? Just did an intensive course and passed my test.

You would have no advantage over someone who did their test at 17, apart from their 2 year restriction period would have been and gone and they'd be able to ride a derestricted bike, where as you'd have to wait another 2 years.

Pass your test as soon as you can and get that two year clock ticking.

one question...may sound silly but can you take your test at 17 before the cbt runs out?

Provided your CBT is still valid, you can take your test at 17, you will need to take the A2 motorcycle test.

You have to take your test BEFORE the cbt runs out, if it does, you have to do it again, and yes you have to pay for it.

As soon as you have the following

- Provisional Licence
- Valid CBT Certificate
- Theory Test Pass Certificate

You can then take your practical test.

Unfortunately not, you have to have a valid provisional licence (which includes being old enough for the catergory vehicle you want to drive/ride)

ok thanks....one more question if you could help...lol whats the highest cc you can get with 33bhp cos i thought it was around 600 but mate says 500.

You can have any CC you'd like, but it has to be restricted to 33bhp.

If you wanted you could buy a busa and get it restricted (don't expect it to run too well though), on the other hand you could buy an RS250 and it would still need to be restricted as it's over the 33bhp limit.

Please do bare in mind though that insurance companies don't take any notice of the fact that a bike is restricted when it comes to insurance premiums, so a restricted R6 would cost a lot more to insure than a restricted GS500 etc..

You can have any cc restricted to 33bph, R1 if you really wanted (but it'd run crap I'd imagine, wouldn't leave 1st gear).

Personally, I wouldn't buy a derestricted scooter, because it would say to me "ragged". Unless there were recipts for a garage having done the work, I wouldn't touch it Thumbs Up

you could get a gsxr 1000, or even a hyabusa... its getting insured on them thats the problem.
