My friend is looking to buy his first bike and is looking at all the different sports bikes. I'm trying to talk him into something cheaper to buy and repair after he drops it. Does anyone have anything suitable? Some kind of off road bike would be ideal, not looking to spend a fortune.

In the Manchester area, I'm also looking for a bike to replace my stolen GPZ if anyone has anything.

Rick.

I know you said off-road, but just on the off chance, I have an NSR125 for sale, I'm not too far from Manchester.

Take a look at the link in my signature and drop me a PM if interested.

By the way, how much is he looking to spend?

I don't think he's too sure right now. I'm trying to talk him away from sports 125's.

That NSR looks alright though, no plastics to break. What kind of price are you asking?

He's not looking to completely rip anyones arm off, he's just trying to get the best he can, as soon as possible. On his wage as a student he's struggling.

Thumbs Up

I'm looking for around £800. If he's just looking for something to learn on then it's a good bike to go for as these bikes hold their value well and he should be able to sell it without making much loss.

Spec:

J reg 1992
Imported from Italy in 2002
Approx 24,500 km (15,200 miles)
MOT til June 2006
Tax til March

Not sure what his budget is but let me know if he's interested.

Out of interest, why are you trying to talk him away from 125cc sports bikes? Confused

Hi this is ricks mate. Arround 800 is my budget. Looking to spend 800 on bike, 700 on insurance, 400 on gear. But i can stretch the total to 2000. Next installment of student loan comes in on jan 16, £840, have got 200 to add to that at the moment. Could buy a bike now but not done cbt yet. id like to do that before i do anything else.

I just think 125cc sports bikes are bloody expensive for what they are normally and are well underpowered for what we will be doing. I think he would be best buying a cheap bike for practice, get his test done when he turns 21 and buy a bigger bike. Just use a 125 to get some experience for the next 6 months or so.
