I have recently fucked my big end bearings on my katana ay50 lc and i have been told that this has happened because my exhaust (TECNIGAS NEXT RACE PIPE) has been making my engine rev to 12,000 revs. i am getting the engine fixed and having another 50cc piston fitted. i was wondering if fitting a primary gear kit would stop the engine from revving as high. Also i was wondering if the gear kit would work on the 50cc cylinder as they are designed to work with 70cc kits but the gearing is so low on the katana so it fucks my big end bearings. would my bike be able to pull off with this gear kit installed.

Get another mechanic who knows what hes talking about.

Maybe mention Rev-limiter to him (or her).

If you'd over reved it the piston would have probably broken up.

How did he measure the revs out of interest?

he couldnt measure the revs as the big end bearings had literally disintergrated but he told me that some exhausts on the suzuki katana ay50 make the engine rev up to 12,000 revs.
