Im actually getting bored of motorbikes. Never thought i would as theyve been the most consistent thing in my life but im bored shitless with them. Cant be arsed to get my clobber on, cant be arsed with warming the bike up, cant be arsed with the whole scene. No, its not winter, i actually in some ways prefer riding in the winter. Im just seriously fed up with it all yet couldnt actually tell you why. From 1977 when i got my first bike as a kid ive never been without one. Used to get right frustrated if i couldnt ride due to an injury etc but 2005 has really done it for me. Lets hope 2006 revives my interest.
Sorry, not a chirpy message i know but its been a bit shitty the last few weeks. Aint got a lot happy go lucky to say im afraid.

Dunno mate, guess im hoping its just a phase. Did notice a few months back though that i'd lost my bottle somewhat. Was thinking more about the bad things than the good and just wasnt smiling anymore like i used to.
Funny old business huh! Its not like im old at 38 but im also getting squeamish aswell. Broke a chunk of bone out of my tibia just before xmas and tore the ligaments in my ankle and knee. Apparently its also agitated old injuries. Maybe thats the root of it all. Was also told last year after my physio had finished that if i twatted my left leg again i was gonna lose it from the knee down. That wasnt very inspiring.

just pack it in then. sell the bike and donate/sell your clothing etc.

one of two things will happen:
1) you'll realise you were wrong and still have a taste for it or
2) you'll discover you're happier without it.

As much as people would like to say, biking isn't the be all and end all of life, there's lots of things out there that are equally as fulfilling, the trick is to finding them Smile

If I was in your situation, I'd think of throwing the towel in for a while, but that's because I'm a squeamish safety nazi :0

Have you passed your DAS yet Rob? I'd at least wait until I'd done that and see how I felt then.

Plus; well, you've got a fair bit of experience, but you're on a fairly tame machine. Maybe test ride a couple of litre bikes, see how they make you feel?

Now i must admit they look a laugh. used to know a bloke years ago that did circuit testing in a dutton i think it was. Bloody great fun. Like the idea of a buggy to McHaggis.
At the end of the day its not all doom and gloom, just finding it hard to get inspired anymore. Was actually thinking of going back to dirt bikes, do some hare and hounds again etc. Would be laugh to compete on my old 76 DT250. That would get some stares amongst the WR's, XR's so on so forth. Very Happy

Ive had a tuned Bandit 12, ZX9 Ninja, YZF750 so on so forth over the years. If im perfectly honest i like bikes that sort of stand out. Thats not knocking any sports bikes etc but im also 6 foot 6 and need a physically big bike.
I sound like im being a smart arse but im not but kind of been there, done it etc. Not saying i was good or the likes but in 30 years of riding motorbikes ive covered quite a bit as anyone would in that amount of time.
If im perfectly honest and it sounds bloody sad but my wrists cant stand drops after them being broken, nerve and tendon damage etc. My knees have been shattered and ive got arthritis in them from bike accidents. I broke some bones in my neck years ago and have a stiff neck. Torn numerous ligaments which believe it or not cause more bloody pain than broken bones.
Hahahahahahahaha! Perhaps i should go out and get a goldwing and sidecar Laughing
Whats a DAS by the way?

The same happened to me last year went right off them, so i had a month or two of not using me bike then one day i had to take it out as my car was off the rode and i spent the afternoon blasting round some country roads and it re-lighted the fire so to speak Thumbs Up

Laughing I realise that now, I remember liking your Triple, I believe it's MikeH who's in his 30's aswell and bought a KLE 500 as a bike to learn on. I always have this problem, must pay more attention! Mad

Another thing I can recommend, although not from experience, is to wait until the summer rolls around before you consider throwing the towel in. And with the number of aches and pains you seem to have from bike-related accidents, I wouldn't be ashamed of going fairweather at all. Shocked

Maybe you should give it up for a year or so. Chances are by the time summer comes along you will have the itch to go out for a run?

Theres nothing wrong with having a break in my opinion, a biking detox if you may?

i had a young life crisis i supposeafter years of riding my dirt bike...and ended up driving one of these on a regular basis i wanted to build one as well but it was a little out of my budget but hey fucking fun toys to drive! wheelie like anything!!

Two years ago I felt the same way, I was sore every time I went out on the bike, my wrists ached unless I was over 90mph, my shoulder was agony after breaking it, I thought fuck this I'm selling my bike, which by the way was a Gixxer1000.

Then I thought about a big traillie type thing, after looking around I swapped my Gixxer for a Cagiva Navigator, its a Grand Canyon with a TL1000 engine, it was the best thing I could have done, all the stress and pressure of riding a superbike were gone, the enjoyment in riding a bike came flooding back, I could't keep off it, I still can't. I went from not wanting to ride anymore to absolutely loving it, riding around all day with a grin on my face.

Maybe a change of bike? something a bit more comforatable? just a thought. I certainly wont be buying anymore sports bikes.
