WTF is a spary?

I assume you mean spray, if so then no, you will need to brush off any loose stuff and then repaint.

If the alloy is flaking, I presume it's been down to road salt. Either it's directly effected the metal, or has got under the laquer (if the Bandit's engine block is laquered). A rub down and respray would do the trick, had a go at my mate's CB over the autumn. Wire brushing followed by a couple of coats of VHT, then sealed with a light dusting of laquer. I was wet and drying his exhausts at the time (which weren't on the bike) which made matters easier.

VHT- Very High Temperature Paint, not sure if you can get it in laquer form. Halfords should do it.

Just use silver engine lacquer, almost any car 'Motorworld' type place will sell that in tin and spray forms. It won't need clear lacquer/clear-coat over the top either. VHT paint is really only for exhausts and other VERY hot surfaces. An engine's crankcase, even an air-cooled one doesn't get that hot.

If it is bare metal, Autosol will bring up a shine pretty well with some elbow grease, if that's what you're after.

But not if its 'flakey', as already explained, road salt and/or grime has got to the metal and is attacking it thus ruining the finish.

Re-painting has to be the way to go in my opinion.
