Can't see how a wee bit would cause any harm. It doesn't take much to get the smell and it will just burn up in the fuel. At worst it would foul your plugs and cause a bit of excess coke. At best it will stop your exhaust from going rusty (I have spoken to a guy who used to run significant quantities of engine oil through his 4-stroke in the fuel to allegedly stop the exhaust rusting and it seemed to run ok).

Mmmm. Castrol R Drooling The smell of speed. Thumbs Up

Lovely smell, heard of several people doing the same when they were young. Gives you a headache after a while though (the smell that is). Laughing

Hi

Doesn't react nicely with mineral oils, and that might cause a problem.

All the best

How would it do that then? It doesn't block the jets in the carb. on a 2-stroke.

Carbs are the same (other than size-wise).

For the smell effect you only put about a tea-spoon of it in your tank, shouldn't clog anything up in such a low quantity.

After a long time you get a lot if crap deposited on the back of the valves, otherwise it doesnt cause a problem.

Scroll down Castrol Classic R40. For four strokes and has the smell.... Best of both worlds.

I used to race Karts in the 60s and we used it then. The problem is that being a vegetable oil it polymerises when it is heated. Old fashioned varnish was made of boiled linseed oil. Chip pan oil is a good example of how it thickens and goes sticky. The degree of polymerisation depends on temperature and residence time. Thus any oil lodged on ring grooves and in the valve gear would be inclined to go thicker and sticky with time, whereas any oil that simply passed through would be effected very little. In a two stroke engine the worst place is under the crown of the piston, because there is a "dead" spot there and the mixture, oddly enough, is fairly static, (it just goes up and down with the piston) and, due to the heat from the combustion above, varnish build up there at an amazing speed. However since we used to blow up engines at a frightening rate of knots we were able to keep varnish build under control.
