well in my opinion it is now.

I had a fish tale experience in the wet a few months ago and ever since then I've been a bit scared of riding in the wet (sissy I know) and whenever the roads are damp i would ride like a sissy. now I only ride for fun therefore its easy to avoid the wet days.

but today I was on a bit of a stress mission and the missus sugested that when we go out that i should take the bike and she would take the kids in the car. hmmm I thought as it was raining but the thought of sitting in the car stressing pushed me to taking the bike. so off I went like a sissy Embarassed got to our first destination and all was pretty much the same as usual still didnt like it that much.

then on the way to our next destination we went along the A130 to chelmsford, oh my god, i suddenly got this urge of confidence again and off I went leaving the missus and the car behind. it felt fantastic, I was cold and I was really wet (only got summer leathers and gloves ..... not very water proof) but at the same time I felt so alive and good about it all. and it was just like riding in the dry (apart from the visibility) all my confidence was now returned. absolutly brilliant, bonkers but brilliant.

I know for many of you riding in this weather is second nature and comes natruly but I thought I would share it with you anyway.

Ill have to ride in the rain more often.

I like riding in the rain. Takes a bit more skill and isn't as bad as icy roads.

I had fun in the rain today - 45minutes of back road riding getting used the the KL - albeit at 60mph speeds.

Riding in the rain isn't all that bad in terms of bikes and handling, the worst bit for me is getting soaking wet. Just remember not to get too cocky and confident because if you don't treat your bike and weather conditions with the respect they deserve, that is when you'll come a cropper, just when you least expect it.

Tut Tut You used more fuel than neccessary! Rolling Eyes

You should have stuck them on the back of the bike. Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Whenever I ride in the rain, it's because I have to, so I generally hated it. Plus on my commute there's a drain cover that caught me out three times, and I lost it twice. Rolling Eyes Mad

But I always found it not all that bad, except for the freezing hands from cheap gloves and the wet crotch from lack of waterproof trousers. Laughing

The appeal wears off a little when you can feel the front sliding on every roundabout with a marginal lean angle. Smile

i know exactly what you mean, it was chucking it down and i was out in the peak district near buxton, it was the most amazing ride ever, never felt so happy and free. Strange how these things make you feel, this was about 18 months ago, but can still remember it.

Groovey I suspect he means the other A130, the big ass top-speed-testing road.

Shame police are there more often than not. Are you a member of essexbikers.co.uk quite often meets and stuff in and around Chelmsford.

to settle the debate it was the nice big new long one, no major bends but nice gentle ones I think i looked on essex bikers but from what i remember i didnt like the site much, I prefer this one.

although in the dry the a130 with the roundabouts is cool Thumbs Up

Riding in the rain does not bother me, its the icey days I dont ride in. Its been said to me that its the riders that ride in the winter that make better riders in the summer Mr. Green

Yeah it's the new massive one Groovey, starting just up from the army and navy in Chelmsford and pretty much straightlines it all the way to Southend.

I agree, Essexbikers isn't such a good site. When you meet some of the guys they are absolute diamonds though. I've met most of the people off there, and some of them will be friends for life.

It's possibly the least interesting road I've ever ever seen.

Although it's where I'd always try and max out my 125.

I'm still going out when it's wet on saturdays just to get a blast of fresh air and adrenalin to wake up. half and hour until the fingers and toes are too cold and I shoot back home.
I'm happy with a blast up a straight road and stick to roads I'm very familiar with so there's not too many nasty suprises.
I am looking forward to summer now I think I'll be so much smoother. I can't actually remember the last time I rode on a nice dry road!!

Hate riding in the rain.

Hate riding in the rain, at night, whilst filtering in heavy traffic in rush hour, and having to do an emergency stop Thumbs Down

didnt used to mind riding in rain or icy conditions

until riding 50 miles in torrential rain and lightning on the way back from chester in may

had water in my boots and underwear

had water pouring in through the top of my visor

visibility was down to about 5 foot.

that isnt fun or hardcore it's just plain pointless

Its weird how close the line can be between solid hard riding with confidence up and losing it. Was riding on wettish roads today taking it easy at first then feeling good seems like the grips there then go into a corner exactly the same way ive been doin for the last 45 minutes and whoa! rear end slides out and she wants to throw me off! Managed to save it though Surprised

Gotta keep the respect for the conditions even when you start feeling invincible Cool
