What make of leathers would you recommend? Looking at getting a 2 piece set of leathers and wondered what you guys have and what you would recommend.

Well the usual makes are all pretty good, alpinestars ect, just make sure you get them to fit, they will pull and hurt you more if they dont fit properly

i have Axeman leathers, pretty good, but not really worn the pants yet.

Hein Gericke are usually good quality and very reasonably priced.

Fit is the most important factor though.

ones that fit you well!
i have gone down the track at 100 mph plus in richa's and they held up pretty well given it was a 200 metre tumble!
though make sure you check the stitching and make sure they won't split easily

Cost no factor, then BKS, Carrera, Crowtree or any other tailor-made suit would be best!

persanally I ride in a Teknic 1 piece. Due to great fit at appropriate price.

Also have a Swift 2-piece which were a bit cheaper when I was starting out. Again good fit.

Being 6' and 10.5 stone, getting a good fit wasn't easy.

I've had bad experiences with Dianese and Apline stars kit.

I would go made to measure if you at all can. Starting from around £600 I would have thought - but would expect it to be much better than a comparable big name item for the same price.

I was given an estimate of about £550 for a 2 piece Wolf Race leathers. This was a basic design, pretty much all black.

In the end I went for a textile/leather mix from RST.

Had RST full leather trousers before. I doubt they'd much good on a race track. But for £90 they did their job on the road.

My bellstaff leathers have lasted well. Must have had the jeans for eight years now. Been down the road in them twice (once at about 70mph) and they are still holding up. The lining is starting to come apart now but the leather itself is solid as ever (if a little scuffed along the arse).

I have a one piece Alpinestars suit and a two piece Dainese suit. They are both pretty good, cost a fair bit though, but I do believe that you get what you pay for. The advice already given is correct, the fit is the most important factor. Don't forget that you will spend a fair bit of time riding in your leathers and if they are not comfortable you will forever feel it. Go round a few places, try different sets of leathers on (within whatever budget you have) and you'll probably soon narrow it down to whats the right choice.

Another vote here for Belstaff. I've been down the road in them once and they took the brunt no probs. Not the cheapest stuff, though far from the dearest. About the same price as Alpinestars gear.

Crash tested a dianese jacket twice, nothing serious though.


Still looks ok and in one piece, and the slight marks (and they are slight marks) which are on it adds character to it.

The dianese jeans on the other hand hardly get worn. 32" waist yet the arse on them must of been made for a 52" obease woman. Hence a pair of shreaded demine jeanes and a few now healed cuts.

I got the cheapest HG 2 piece I could get. They were on offer, £100 for the set.

Been down the road twice in them, the leather on the arse has ripped. But there are two layers. And the zip where it attaches to the pants has started to tear.

At lydden I went down mainly onto my right elbow and the webbing on the inside left a nice bruise pattern. That was the sliding on my arse that left it ripped.

Other than that, they've served me well.

I had dainese 2 piece. The jacket was slightly weird as when the trousers werent on the waist line (bottom of the jacket) was quite high up. They were really good (never crashed though) very warm but took an absolute age to break in.
