You basically take all of your bike's documents, plus some photocopies as well. The best way to book your ferry is through https://www.ferrysavers.com/ and you will get the best price if you take a ferry at 5am or a similarly ungodly hour. You do not need anything else other than your passport and license.
It is essential to have some kind of mapreader such as you get on a tankbag, and a half decent folded map. Unless you speak the local lingo, take a phrase book (Lonely Planet do good ones, think they are only £3.50 new). A guidebook is a very good idea, which will tell you where accommodation is, plus lots of interesting sights which you wouldn't otherwise know about.
To stay in youth hostels you are best to join the YHA. Think there are some camping associations that you can join as well for small benefits. Make sure the bike is adequately serviced before you go, and do not overpack. ____________________ Hard livin', hard luck. |
