Comfort is not my problem, steaming up is. I wear my glasses in the dark but not during the day on the bike.

Contact lenses are your answer and make sure you ride with your visor DOWN. leaving it up will cause all sorts of road grit and airborne particles to cling to the lens making it really uncomfortable. You have been warned!

Even when i had my contraption whereby i took of the legs of the glasses and mounted it on the breath guard, it still steamed up.

Alternatively, don't ride with your glasses! I don't have particularly bad eyesight and if its a case of steamy glasses and visor, i'd rather ride without the glasses.

ive had:

AGV K Series
Nitro N600v
FM Axe

and they have fitted well.

only thing is that they fog up and freeze over in bad winter.

but the fogging was overcome by 'Fog Buster' from Specsavers for about £2 i think Cool

Unless you had strangely shaped frames you should be able to persuade them on after you put your helmet on - just be gentle and feed both arms in at the same time. For what it's worth, my AGV Pacific and Arai Condor both let me wear my glasses without difficulty - though my new contact lenses are the ultimate answer Smile

put the helmet on first, then slide glasses into position, keep the visor slightly open to allow airflow and stop them steaming up.

My AGV AirTech accomodates glasses rather well, just leave the visor open a tad to let air circulate...

If it rains heavily you're fucked though, I'd SERIOUSLY consider getting contact lenses, I had to pull over to the left on a dual carridgeway with about 10% visibility because my visor and glasses were steamed up, then covered in rain,

I've always found that as long as I'm not standing still and the rain is not too extreme, making sure all of the vents are open on the helmet have been enough to stop my glasses steaming up, but I guess that is very helmet-dependent.

Hi

Never really had a problem getting glasses on when wearing a crash helmet (good job as I am as blind as a bat without them). Used Nava, Kiwi, Nolan and Shoei helmets.

Yes if it rains you can have problems with them steaming up or getting wet in the rain. However the bigger problem is just getting water on the inside of your visor, so keeping the visor shut is a good idea. Tried the breath guards and they make the glasses steam up really quickly. Only way round it is to learn to control your breathing.

All the best

Keith

Good point, you will learn to hold your breath at traffic lights with glasses.

If you can't get your glasses on either your helmet or your glasses are not the right fit for you!

Contacts are all very well, but some of us can't wear them for various reasons. I too can see nothing without my glasses.

So, tip 1, when you buy your glasses make sure that they are not wider than your face. Sounds silly, but especially if you have quite a thin face it can happen.

Tip 2, always wear your glasses when you go to try on a potential new helmet. A good helmet will fit you and you will still be able to get your glasses on. If it's not happening, try another make. Remember, fit is more important that price. Thumbs Up

Steaming/misting/water droplets can be a problem in the rain or cold, but you kind of learn to get round them when you've been riding for a bit. My own way is to ride in the rain with my visor open just a bit at the bottom, and to scream "BASTARD WEATHER" as loud as I can. the screaming bit has no practical application, but it makes me feel a lot better!

I wear both contacts and glasses on occassion (i.e any occassion that requires me to use my eyesight). When I first put my specs on with lid it took a real amount of faith that the legs wouldn't break as it required a fair bit of force to get them in.

I have a Nolan flip face helmet which fits my glasses fine, the helmet has excellent ventilation vents in the front and so doesnt steam up too bad on the move but does when stopped.

I have Oakley Thread 4.0 prescription glasses and they have the very straight arms so they fit quite well in my helmet only thing is they were £370.

I find they never slip down due to the rubber arms and they are strong as they are made from titanium.

A few Shark helmets fitted my glasses as well but not as easily as the Nolan.

£370?! You have too much spare cash my friend. Fancy giving some of your wealth to the poor? Smile

Put your helmet on and before you tighten the chin strap put your glasses o, ensuring a comfotable fit....then tighten the chin strap and your glasses should be comfrtably on and secure. Bonza

some oaklys seem to fit well in my experiance to, due to the straight arms, got some O3's and they fit fine, however my somewhat unflexible juliets hurt like hell to get on. yet to find a pair of glasses that i cant force in there if required though. i hate riding with contacts in as if i dont have the vents open in this weather then the visor steams up, if i do then my contacts dry out and itch like hell!

I believe that there are on the market or are developing prescription visors. Shoei from what I remember.

Contact lenses are the way to go but, obviously, you don't have time for that.

If you can get your glasses to fit, use some Bob Heath spray on them to stop them misting up.

If you do eventually go for contact lenses and get soft ones, be careful if there's freezing fog around, lenses are 95% water and mine managed to freeze once, either that or my eyes were watering and that froze. I couldn't blink at all until I shut my visor again.

Cheers

Grim
