DRZ400?

Cant find any specs for it. Anyone know what bhp they produce? and if possible top speed and 0-60? also how much torque they produce as standerd.

I believe there are 2 versions; a trail based bike (DRZ400S) which has around 40bhp and an enduro spec bike (DRZ400E) that is nearer to 50bhp which would need the oil changing every few rides.

I think that the trail version has indicators luggage rack etc!

Just seen them at the local dealer, sat on the supermoto style one and seems to be uch smaller then the DT125

If all you are prepared to do is get two quotes, accept them as what your insurance is going to cost and leave it at that...

perhaps you dont really wnat a bigger bike *shrugs*

Quotes for my nsr were also higher than my GPZ, luckily I was on my parents policy for that though.

I only done two quick online quotes as i had some time. I have just forked out enough for my insurance in december, and cannot afford to pay that kinda money.

In that video website, the DRZ-400 supermoto managed a 0-60 in 3.7 seconds... Perhaps that is why insurance is high?

I test rode a DRZ400SM and it did about 100mph (indicated), but it wheelied so easily. Also, as it's a dirt bike, it's a favourite to be stolen. Ring round though, set aside a day to do it.

NEVER do online quotes. They are always at least X*2. Ring up and usually it will be half the online figure.

I rode a brand spanking new 2005 DRZ400s as a curtesy bike whilst mine was in for it's service. (A big thumbs up to York Suzuki for good customer service ) I'd never really given that sort of bike a second glance before but after a very short while I thought it was good fun. On the straights it would hit 90 but it wasn't really a bike designed with speed in mind. What it excelled at was urban riding as you could see for miles and mount curbs without a care. I wouldn't actually buy one myself as I had to quite literally climb aboard it but I did manage the tightest U turns I've ever done!

But yes it seemed to attract kids like wasps to a honey pot and I can imagine that this sort of attention would affect the insurance. It's group 9 insurance which for for a bike only producing 40hp seems steep.
