with ground clearance?

I *think* that they look like they would touch down at the same time as the pegs... still they look more protective than normal mushrooms. Having said that, the fuel is kept in the frame of these Buells and I'm not sure what would happen as there is a large plate attached to the rear bit of the area that holds fuel.

Opinions?

{edit} I hate the gold colour BTW Sick just its easier to see how it attaches to the bike... {edit}

They look like stunters bikes, so i dont think they are going to be worrying about ground clearance.

Looking at those pics, I suspect those particular bikes spend most of their time on one wheel. I dont think ground clearance is going to be an issue! Laughing

I understand that;

What I'm really getting at is:

Could you do a trackday on one of those bikes?

Or would you end up in the tyrewall?

Jesus H Christ Marjay, how far do you wanna lean? Most peoples beer guts will be wider than those things, I really can't see them being a problem.

Look at the size of the belt! Shocked

You could do a trackday and would never end up in a tyre wall, because with that it'll top out at 40! Laughing

I expect you could, I don't see that causing too many problems. It looks a pretty slender bike to me in the first place. But I imagine they're on there because stunting often ends up in low speed lowsides and alike, so there might be an issue if you want to be KD on the trackday.

No no no!!

They are stunt crash cages and will ground out very easily.. do not put one on a bike that you're not full time stunting as, unless you don't lean at all, it'll ground very easily and make you fall off!!!

No trackdays!!

They're for wheelies and other stunts ONLY.

Seriously, trust me on this! Laughing

Well just a thought really. They do look protective, but at tjhe same time they could dent the frame potentially.

its either that or go with your usual R and G crash bungs:

https://www.rg-racing.com/sports-bike-protectors/buell-crash-protectors/buell-2.jpg

But if the bike is going to be impractical with a cage fitted, I'll go with the R and G bungs. I was going to do that anyway.

Agree with Marjay that the pulley's look stock. That's around 130mph then.

For protection there are a few system's it seems. One run's a bar from side to side near the front of the engine and is similar to R&G with two rolly type things either side.

Best thing to get for a Buell is the frame pucks (essential imho) and small R&G type things to go on the front and rear spindle.

Good Buell forum here. https://www.bike-pix.com/forum/index.php

Two good part's/accessories site's for Buell's.

Yams;
They don't look as chunky as the conventional stunt cages, which usually go under the bike.

Need a front/rear view really to be sure.

Going to go for the 12 bar pictured as well mark? Smile

Naww @ G.

Not sure when I'm gonna get it Yams, it has a private plate at the mo and the owner wants to keep it so its got to be re-registered with its original reg.

Hopefully next week. Smile

You're right that they don't look as chunky as others.. even the cages that don't go under the bike still ground out on most/all sports bikes, maybe the buell is a bit different but I doubt it, protecting the engine casings with a cage almost always compromises lean angles...

Surely there are some side on pics on the Powers website??

Also worth checking some other manufacturers, a street cage could be good for it as you can still lean but more protective than bungs.

they dont have them listed, but www.freestyleingenuity.com might do one for the Buell.. worth asking anyway.

It seems only powers do the cages for the Buell.

Here's a more frontal shot (still not ideal though):

What it comes down to really is if that front engine mount sticks out further than the peg... you might get away with that one on there, up to you if you want to try... expect $100 shipping at least and £40 or so in UK customs on top of the cage price.
