about a week ago, i asked my previous insurers to foward proof of my no claims bonus to bennetts, to use on my new policy. however i got a letter today saying thet they had not recieved this, and thus, have cancled my policy.

how should this effect my premium in future?

no what i ment was does my premium go up because benetts cancled my policy. You have to declare this when getting a new policy, and i cant get online quotes now. i was just wondering how this would effect my premium.

trust me, i dont usually worrie, but i want to try and get the bike as legal as i can, ive been pushing my luck this past month.

Hi,

You dont need to worry about this (unless you do not have no claims and were attempting fraud)

You do not need to declare it. You do need to find the no claims proof.

C

I would advise you get your original insurance company to send you the NCD paperwork.

As for declaring your cancelled insurance, I believe this is only relevant where an insurance company has cancelled an active policy, because of fraud or other issues (unrestricted bike with a restricted licence, for instance)

As your Bennets policy wasn't fully activated and/or was within the first 1-2 weeks, I would just ignore it.

Could you not just photocopy your insurance documents, and send them to bennetts, prooving your NCD?

Get your company to post your NCB to you, so you can send it out yourself.

I wouldn't trust an insurance company to do it for you, the experience I've had with them they're pretty f**king useless with paperwork.

it shouldnt affect the policy at all, but they have a legal right to send proof of no claims to you.I had the same clart on with carole nash, i threatened them with the ombudsman, 3 days later it pops through the letter box

Sounds like I was lucky.

Carole Nash virtually doubled my premium after I threw it up the road.
They sent me the renewal notice, which gave my no-claims. That was good enough for Bennetts.

BTW when I was looking for online quotes, I tried https://www.bennets.co.uk/
Not what I was expecting! Surprised

Im with Performance Direct. They simply asked for my previous insurer and policy number. They confirm it all by phone. Seems good enough for them!

ok, phone your previous insurers, get them to send the proof of bonus to you. once you have it it will probably say you have 1 years ncd (or 2,3,etc...)

when getting the quote state you have this amount of no claims. you can then send it to the new insurer. if they sent it direct to bennets last time it probably got lost. as they had no policy number to relate it to. also they should have sent a few letters before cancelling, though this was probably done as the underwriters wont cover you on your bike without x amount of ncd.

or just ask them to do a verbal proof of bonus (as above, they phone your prev insurers) but ask nicely and ask for a call back to confirm its been done. as they dont have to do this as it is your responsibility as the policy holder to proove you are entitled to the discount

any questions, just ask

Paul
