Slow puncture (now a full puncture)

Hi guys, noticed my bike has developed a bit of a slow puncture, however tommorrow is sunday and i may be pressed to find a tyre place open to fix it.

Would products like gloop or powerseal, (Not that foamy tyre weld shite that all tyre bays hate, the liquid stuff), fix the problem? May be easier to get that (or cheaper).

You found a hole in it or is it just going soft slowly?

Tubeless tyres sometimes leak a bit round the beading. You can reseat them by removing the valve core and overinflating them (stick 60psi in then let it go down again). This will force the beads back onto the rim properly (this is how the fit them in the first place). Replace the valve core and try it.

Can only not work and costs nothing to do.

Sadly it has a nail in it, the slime hasnt worked so ive started looking into repairs.

Ive heared conflicting stories here on tyre repair, its a ZZR400, the tyre is a Dunlop sportmax 160/60. The nail is a small one, and the hole is about 2 inches from the centre.

Phoned up the place that ive used to fit my tyres before and they have said that they can repair most punctures, so long as they arnt too close to the edge. But other people have told me that I have to buy a new one. The tyre is almost new so i dont facny buying a new one yet.

Can you put a tube in it?

yeah, putting a tube is the cheap way to fix a non-tubed tyre, as long as there isnt a big gash or anything in it, its fine to put a tube in it, ive done this 3 or 4 times with no problems

Took the bike down to the tyre repair shop, and they have told me that they cannot repair the tyre because it has been fitted with slime (like ultraseal but cheaper).

Im now at a loss, the bike shop want 104 pound for a replacement tyre because there is a BT020 fitted at the front and it has to be another radial or something to be legal.

What can i do now? Part worn tyres? Anyone sell part worn tyres? Any kind of puncture repair kit that i could use/fit that would last me for the rest of the tyre life?

tyre size is 160/60/R16

Yes I'm not surprised, once you put anything in the tyre then no repairers will touch them, it affects the rubber on the inside. If you have a BT020 on the front then that's what you should have on the back, mind you the price is a bit steep, Micheldever Tyres will replace the tyre off the bike for about £85, recently had the rear replaced on my FZR Exup, on the bike for £100 and that is a 180/70 17. Wheels off the bikes usually work out about £10-£15 per wheel cheaper.

Well they recommended the Continental Road attack as a better road tyre to me and said it would work well with the 020 on the front.

then when the front wears down replace with a Road attack on the front. Ill give you a review when ive scrubbed it in
