My single mate swears by love@lycos. He's a filthy bugger and manages to find all sorts of ladies on there. He's not choosy but I'm surprised at the standard of girls he's met on there!

When I was at sixth form college (many years ago) I can remember a lot of the people in my computing class would sit on the PCs during lunch time in chat rooms. 'Sad bastards' thought I; especially when one of them was flying to America to meet the girl he hoped to marry.

However when I heard about a couple on here that got together through an internet dating site, I actually had a think about it.

So, is it really better trying to start a relationship going into a pub and trying it on with a load of women, probably hoping to get some sex that night because you're by then pretty drunk. Often having to have drunk a fair bit of alcohol to get the confidence to talk to the ones you really want based on looks.
Or finding someone who's interests are similar to yours and chatting with them over a bit of time to get to know if they're a complete nutter or not (and whether or not you want a complete nutter, of course ).


Markc's comments I thought could also be used in relation to some gyms as well .

Now I am a shy bloke, though tend to be just as shy online as when drunk : but if an anymous screen rather than alcohol/pub-club scene gives people the confidence to talk to people of the other sex, why not?
