Remember; fit is all important, presuming you wish to use your helmet for 'protection' at least.

So I would go for (and have done) a louder helmet that fits better - ear plugs usually work well.
My current Raid II has a 'pinlock' anti fog system, which seems to work very well.

I second what G says (I seem to be doing that a lot recently?! Confused ) Fit is the MOST important thing with a helmet.

Noise doesn't really come into it as everyone should wear earplugs really if you care about your hearing!

Pinlock is a good anti fog system but can be a pain to fit, same with a fog city insert, but both work well.

Theres a foam you can use made by Bob Heath that is a good anti mist, but you have to basically re-apply it for every ride as it wears off after about a couple of hours of steamed up riding, but does work well while it lasts.

Thumbs Up

Shoei X-spirit. Fits all criteria, hopefully it fits your head.

Had mine about a year and would hapily buy another if something happened to this one.

Remarkably though I got 1 for £250 when hein-geriche sold off the last of their stock. But having had 1, I would now be happy to pay full price for one.

Hi

Fit is important, and that varies with different peoples heads in different helmets.

Noise is a bit of a non issue. Even a quiet helmet is hideously noisy at speed.

All the best

Keith

Have a look at the HBC FG-14. You can get them new on ebay for 120 quid, which is a bargain considering the spec. They scored really highly in the RiDE tests, have an anti fog visor that works, removable lining, chin curtain, removable breath guard and quick release visor. Look cool as well Thumbs Up but like others have said, you should never buy a lid without trying it on.

I use earplugs if im going more than about 20-30 miles but les than that I hardly bother. I have a can of the bob heath foam stuff but I find if u don’t put it on every day it just makes it patchy and allot worse.
I am hoping to find one at the London show next week

I like the sound of the HBC FG-14 and Shoei X-spirit if they fit.
Im not to bothered about looks really just I don’t want something plain and boring. Thumbs Down

Thanks

If you do get along to the bike show make it your aim to try on as many different makes as possible. You will find one or two makes that fit better than the others.

If it fits properly then it will be less noisy.

Good luck - and don't bother to do your hair that morning Wink

I think hideously noisey might be a slight exaggeration. Obviously you will always have noise, but there are some that are acceptable at high speed, some that are plain ear bashing!

I also feel noise is not a non-issue.

I know that fit is the most important issue, but I suspect many people are like me in that more than one make of lid fits my head.

In which case, after fit, noise is my number 1 priority.
