Arghhhhhhhhhh.....

Damned I am getting pissed with cagers these days. What do they think we have a in built psychic ability to know that they are about to cut right across our paths to turn left after over taking without indicating or looking. I know i ride a bike and have accepted the higher risks it poses to me but for F**K's sake I aint psychic. I am getting to the point where by the next twat to do that is likely to get dragged out of there cage at the next set of lights and beaten, can I then claim to the police that "Sorry Mate I Didn't See You" in front of my fist, or that it was reasonable force in preventing an attempted murder.

Should the CBT be extended by a week to train all potential riders the basics of being psychic? or could the likes of Aria not create an addition for all helmets that pick up on wankers about to try and kill you.

I personally think that the CBT should be an element of getting any license as it gives greater importance and understanding of actually observering your surroundings when out on the road.

My dads a biker and as a result have grown up around bikes (even though its taken me till nearly 30 to actually go out and get my license) so when driving a car I have always made the point of looking out for bikers and other road users. By doing the CBT you are forcing, in a good way, every new driver to realise that their head can actually turn!

All this though will add to the already expensive costs involved in learning to drive. And before the government gets round to looking at this, they will have probably have tried to ban biking. Well.... look how many bikers run into cars Rolling Eyes the silly sausages. (this last bit was a poor attempt at humour and as such should invoke a giggle and the words "oh that paul, he's such a funny bugger")

Im a car driver and find is usually the bikes that make it difficult for us to see them. The whizz in and out so quickly you can barely see them without glueing your eyes to your mirrors. I know becuase i used to do it.

Also they go alot quicker than what people think so thats why they usually pull out infront of you.

The solution: Bright coloured bike/leathers/helmet and a loud ass can. Worked for me. Smile

Hi

Well, with no psychic abilities, even after a weeks training I would still fail a CBT like that.

I do wonder what could be done. Sometimes think that it would be a good idea to have a single vehicle licence, valid for most / all vehicles and with a basic level of competance required with all those vehicles before any of them can be used unaccompanied on the road. Cost would be hideous though.

New riders do not realise just how poor the visability from a car is (and many car drivers do not realise just how bad it is either), while drivers do not realise how nippy a bike is.

I do think that over the last couple of years while speeds have dropped the instances of bad driving has gone through the roof (and as a very rough example of how people get away with obvious things look how many cars have faulty lights, or really frighten yourself and look at the number of bald tyres on cars in a car park).

All the best

Keith

Why moan at drivers for not seeing bikers, bikers hit cars as well were they have not left enough time or space to stop or get out in an emergency.

Shame on you all

Im moaning about the cagers who think they can pull out, accelerate and match your speed before you catch upto them.

I think not.

If an accident happened because a cager took a risk- i wouldnt be able to afford to sort my bike out, so i would kill them! Razz

It happens - nearly hit a freelander about half an hour ago doing 45 on a roundabout on my 50cc ped.
She looked, and followed the car out infront of me.
Cut me up good and proper.. if i wasnt quite alert, the 6 inches i missed her drivers door by would have been me over the car lying in the road.
Not always the bikers riding into the cars!

It isn't meant to. It is meant to be a very basic level of training so you are not an instant total liability.
