I've just bought a set of trialmaster wax trousers, belstaff overmitts and some thin (feels almost like silk) undergloves and I was wondering if the trousers need to be waxed yourself to make them completely watertight? I did see some wax for them but I figured that was only if their was a leak in it somewhere.

Mine don't look quite as shiny as this one:

I was going to have some handlebar muffs but decided these would be much better not too big either:

Should block out the wind and the rain that.

If only I could find my gaitors and my walking boots I used to have I should be pretty waterproof Crying or Very sad

You need to wax them periodically (especially the elbows) but they should already be thoroughly waxed when you get them.

Wear plenty of layers under them. Bellstaffs seem to suck the heat out of you.

would you use a normal leather spray wax like you can get for leather jackets on it? or would it have to be proper belstaff wax?

You need the proper wax for cotton.
Not hard to get - look in horsey/farm kit shops as it's the same as the barbour jackets need.
