Another bike that won't start

I have a 1992 Honda NSR125 FII Super Sport and very new to biking. Accidentally, the choke was left fully open overnight and the next day the bike would not start. The ignition can be heard trying to work but I get nothing from the engine. Could it be flooded or have wet sparkplugs?? it rained quite hard the night it was left out and found some water sitting beneath the battery which I assume travelled down over the fairing and then under the seat.

The bike was covered with a very good cover which is supposed to be waterproof!

do you mean that the engine turns over but doesnt fire, or that you get a click from the starting solunoid and the engine doesnt turn over?

it's ok to leave the engine stopped with choke on . with the original jetting , i even recommand that . the only thing , when you start with choke on do not put acceleration with your handle , you will flood your engine . put a new plug , choke on and start as i said , if it doesnot work , you have an other problem . see https://www.geneva-racing.com/~alains/NSRtips.doc

You mean ns125 not nsr. I have an ns125 supersport 1993.

nsr's did not start till 1994( correct me if i'm wrong)

Leave it a couple of hours and kick it a couple of times, then try with half choke a few times. If not try bump starting it down a hill, once it goes leave the choke on for 2 min, it should be ok then.
When you park the bike up, turn the fuel off(centre) and run it a min, it emptys the fuel in the pipes and stops it going in the carb and settling.
This is only what i do myself, and do not have any problems.

no nsr start 1989 (type JC20) until 1992 , then from 1993 until end of production they are JC22 . NS125R ends in 1989 type TC01

Hi all, sorry I have not replied sooner, I have only just got back from work.

I can hear the ignition but the engine will not turn over and if I try flicking the throttle it makes a strange but very low puffing noise.......to mention it the throttle feels weird to turn but could be unrelated. The throttle is no longer returning when released where as it done this before no prob. I cant see very much as it is now dark but I had a feel of the sparkplug casing and it all feels very loose inside the rubber cap but not sure if this is normal. The problem only started the night I left the choke open and for info I have recharged the battery to max and tested it using an optimate which says it is fine.

I will try changing the sparkplug tomorrow night and try the other suggestions that you have kindly gave me and I will report what happens. Thanks again for all your help.

Oh and the bike is an NSR, its an italian import that does not have the front fairing. Its an alcast frame style.

I have now checked the sparkplug and tried to bumpstart the bike but its not having any of it. I was changing the hand grips and noticed that the throttle switch gear opens up a fair bit when the throttle is twisted so beginning to think it may be that thats causing the probs as when twisting the throttle it feels as though it is grinding inside.
