riding around tonight with a m8, going about 60 or so, felt the bike randomly start to slow (down a gear) keeps bogging down (i put £5 in my tank about 10 mins erlier) keep going down gears until i am in 1st going about 5Mph.
it sounded like i had ranout fo petrol but i diddnt, radiator has some mud on it, nothing major, just a small strip from the road crap flinging of my tyre.
i stopped, then tyred to pull away, nothing...so i got the bike on the pavementand it was ticking over fine, normal speed of tickover...i waited for about 30 seconds for my m8 stu who screamed off ahead to come back...but diddnt, so i attempted to pul away and the bike was behaving completly normal again...later on about a mile down the road it did it again, pulled over waited and then continued, this happened about 4 times on the way home from where ever we where...
Any ideas ?
i think too much oil and not enough pertol ____________________ Rieju RS2 50cc MATRIX Race Replica - Cagiva Mito 125 - VFR400 NC30

im guessing its a Rieju RS2 50cc, could of said, i had this with mine, oil was getting into the air filter box and doing the above, clean the air filter, or change it, set the mixture, if all else fails, check your piston and barrel.

Sounds like it could be carburettor icing. (Put simply - moisture in atmosphere freezes in carb, then defrosts when you're stationary with the engine running, freezes up again when you get going.)
Assuming that there's nothing wrong with the carb, and you're using decent oil, there may not be much you can do about it.
The best solution - don't ride when it's cold. ____________________ You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.

Hi
Carb icing would be possible, but not that likely. Not damp today and carb icing shouldn't be as common as people think.
My guess would be that the fuel tank breather is blocked. Fuel leaves the tank and air needs to get in to replace it. If the breather is blocked then the air cannot get in which slows down and eventually stops the fuel getting out.
Next time it does it open the petrol cap (as quickly as you can) and listen to see if you can hear a sudden rush of air going in. Also see if the bike then runs fine for a short while.
All the best

i went for a little ride about erlyer, to book my bike into Bike tec neer me, to get my carb jetted for my race exhaust, and then went to a few shops to try to find some not stupidly priced mesh for the vents in my fairings and the LH side had died for some reason , but seemed ok, i was purposely giving it some every where to try to get it to do it again, but nothing, so may be carb icing...
Ow yeah i got back in and cleaned my bike, i finished it and went around the block just for the sake of it. got back and rolled my bike backwords into my garage and pulled the front break and, clunk , one of the bolts has grown legs and flew away
looked every where for it...i think its a 9-10 mil bolt as i put a 8.8 in and it wobbled a little when i screwed it in... ____________________ Rieju RS2 50cc MATRIX Race Replica - Cagiva Mito 125 - VFR400 NC30
