That would be the CAT if im not mistaken. There IS a way you can block it up, and it would make a difference, but im not sure how to.
I would wait for someone more experianced to reply... ____________________ chaff mans random tingz on loot

There is one in the variator/clutch
The standard exhaust is restricted.
When you put the power pipe you wont need the catalytic converter. My mate got his fitted at the garage so I'm not sure if it got plugged up or not. ____________________ Go back to bed - You have no rights - "Streetfighters ~ Mainstream motorcycling's crackwhore sister." |

try www.taffspeed.co.uk for parts. Ebay is also good. When you get an exhaust you will get variator rollers supplied to swap with standard ones. You might need to get a new variator, as i did. I would recommend the Mallosi one and mallosi drive belt. ____________________ Zhongyu ZY50, Aprilia SR50, Motorhispania RX50, Aprilia RS125, Honda VFR400 nc24 and my corsa

There is no throttle restriction - just the appendix on the exhaust, and the variator restriction. That pipe coming off your exhaust goes to the carb and is part of the air recirculation system. This feeds some exhaust gases back into the engine to oxidise CO into CO2 in the cylinder, thus lowering the emissions. The catalyst is a platinum plated mesh inside the silencer, which helps carbon monoxide react with unburned oxygen.
If you want to fit an aftermarket exhaust, remove the air recirc system. Taffspeed will be able to help you with this, they had lots of fiddling around with their zip 70, which uses the same engine, gearbox and chassis.
If you modify the exhaust, then re jet the carb. I'd recomend getting the jet sizes off taffspeed of another scooter tuner, and information about removing the air recirc system, and fitting a performance exhaust, just to save the bother of chopping and welding yours. A Haynes manual probably has information on how to remove the air recirc.

They come with rollers - leave the springs alone. It will need a new jet, too. And if you buy a leo vince, rub it down to bare metal, then get some very high temperature/barbeque paint for it, cand coat the bloody thing. They disintegrate like crackers in a washing machine.

It'll still need a bit of cleaning, but my original exhaust rusted like a bitch anyway.
