Pillion wind protection

I'm starting to consider what bike I should get next, so I figure I should take my sleeping_pillion's interest into account.

She complains quite a bit about the wind blast on the bike. It's a CB500 so I'm usually quite upright but if she looks sideways or moves out of my slipstream, she gets blasted. She says it makes the rides boring as she can only look straight ahead - at the back of my head.

I'm vaguely considering a half-faired bandit or fazer. Does having fairings make any difference to the wind flow felt by the pillion?

Sat behind a same height rider on a Fazer, I still couldn't see anything over his head. Sat behind a same height rider on a Thundercat, I had a marvelous view forwards. They were both pretty comfy, but the Cat was a bit better on the bum imo (probably the most comfortable bike I've been pillion on), but that might just have been me knowing to grip with my legs rather than my arms. The Thundercat also has better grab handles I'd say.

Windnoise is best solved by earplugs and windblast by a strong neck.

How about trying a larger screen on the bike you've got?

That way you won't have lost so much money if it doesn't help things.

Does she have any other experience on other bikes which have been better? I'm not being rude, but it is quite normal for it to be windy on a motorbike. If it's the first bike she's been on, shes bound to complain about it being windy!

You'd need to look at something with a low pillion seat height, as close to the riders height as possible. That way she would be shielded by the fairing and you. Otherwise it'd be something like a full dress tourer for proper protection.
