Any tips on getting it off, preferably pistons. My dad reckons leave it in only for a bit and rub it off. Confused

It depends how deep it is. For light surface rust i use either wd40 and a VERY VERY light scouring pad or wonder wheels and the brush that comes with it.

How deep is the rust out of interest?

Oo-er! Very sorry! Iron isn't the only metal to rust you know!

Like i said before, if it is only light surface rust, wd40 with a light scouring pad is your best bet. Thumbs Up

What's the whole story? Engines do not corrode internally without very good reason. What led up to the rusting?


First note though - Grit down the side of the piston (even a tiny amount) will be very bad for your engine.

I have another engine now so am gonna break down this one and use it for spares if i ever need any. Smile
