GSX-R600K1 -> 2002 RSV-R?

Saw an RSV-R the other day for £3000, it's lightly damaged, screen, headlight cover, mudguard, fairing bracket.

I'm having the dealer write a document with all faults so if i did buy it I can go back for a fix or refund if anything else turns up naff.

Should I sell my GSX-R and buy the RSV-R, and spend a month doing it up? apart from the front the thing is absolutely immaculate, by which i mean such good nick if they guy told me it was a 2006 bike that'd been knocked over in the showroom i could believe it.

I know insurance will ass-feck me, but its so pretty, i must have it....

It appears to have a seat cowl and no pillion pegs, can you get them? anyone got one of these?

Personally, I wouldn't - but then I'm a well known anti-twinner.

I've had plenty little battles on track with big twins - both with about the same corner speed but I've been able to get past them on a 600.

However depends what you want out of a bike.

hmm i like to go as fast as the next guy, but i'd say on a rideout i'm the guy in the middle, and the one least likely to stack my bike on a blind corner.

I love my Gsxr but it's very revvy, i would like a big twin with plenty of torque and power to cruise along with, i dont mind not having the fastest best etc, there's always someone faster with more money.

But my god the paint on this bike is so sexy

If you just want to cruise along and enjoy the scenary easily get a fiesta, oh wait a minute, a litre bike should do you fine .

Big twins are much better than revvy 600 IL4's in my experience.

However...buying new original parts, even second hand parts (I'm primarily talking about plastics here) would be horrifically expensive. As much as I wanted a plain RSV, I convinced myself I'd leave it until later.

Why not get a TLS/Storm/falco instead? Seen plenty about with fancy paint jobs. And they still have much better overtaking power than the 'crappy' 600's.

First thing I'd is price up the cost of putting it back to 100%, then add another 2 months to your wait for parts.

if it were me i think the only V-TWIN to buy is a TLR1000,(but thats me)

The worst one is sitting behind him when we're on rideouts, I cant hear my bike AT ALL, and you can feel the floor shaking, mental.

I heard somewhere that it's not a good idea to buy carbon cans for them as the power pulses can split them, .

go for it mate there are loads of parts on e-bay, also go on some of the forums i.e rsvr.net & bikersoracle.com/rsv/forum, the lads on there are really friendly and will give you loads of information they might even give you a few parts good luck
