spin off from the 'what's the most you've had out of your bike thread' just wondering how many of you have necks like oxen from clinging onto an unfaired bike at higher speeds?

in this case unfaired includes: dirtbikes/supermotos streetfighters etc
anything that does not have a largish front cowl
so a GPZ500s does NOT count where as a Triumph speed triple does.

Only 'unfaired' bike I rode worth commenting on was a hired DR350 which was a nail with no speedo but I'd estimate 80-90mph ish in cyprus

Whilst overtaking a car at 80 on a dual carriageway section of the A1,Iwas overtook at same time by an Audi A6.

Saw red, kicked down and nailed it to catch him,was at 145 when I got along side him (the beast was still pulling like a train).

176mph (Had it on the Dyno at Straightline racing at 194mph, still got the sheet of results)on a 1200 bandit, it was a bit special mind and i was on a great bit of road. A mate was following on his Buell with nitrous but fell behind at about 145/150. It was bloody hard work though and im 6 foot 6 and built like a brick shit house.
Im not bothered if anyone believes this by the way so dont bother saying its not possible.
Oh, was chased by a cop car (me and a mate, mate was on an R1) for 7 miles when i was on my old speed triple. The copper said we were doing 150 plus (Peterborough dual carriageways) but let us off. Very nice copper, even complimented us on our riding abilities Very Happy

Hi

An accurate 166.2mph on a naked 1200 Bandit running standard gearing. The last marking on the Bandit speedo is at 170mph and it was reading somewhere past where the 180 mark would have been.

Next target is to get it past a genuine 170mph without a fairing. Bought some sprockets to play with the gearing (at 166.2mph it was ~700rpm into the red line in top gear, although how much the rev counter over reads by I am not sure). Will need some more practice at tucking in more effectively as well (sitting slightly higher because of a tank bag containing a video camera, no more than 2~3 inches, knocked 11~12mph off the top speed).

All the best

Keith

100 mph on a KMX 125 that had been tinkered with.

Got 130mph out of a CBX750, though it had a tiny little fairing over the dials.

I was talking to some mates about this sort of thing. I've only topped 110 on a naked. Just that scares the shit out of them. Makes you feel pretty good about it all Cool .
