front sprocket size

Hi my 750 ninja is a bit of a slug to get going of the line but heaps of top i want better take of from standing start do i put on a smaller or larger front sprocket does anyone know for sure as once i buy it i own it . Thanks

Less on the front or more on the back. I would choose 1 or 2 teeth of the front as you can shorten the chain instead of the rear as you would have to get a new one.

As above, but fitting a smaller sprocket will increase the wear on it. Probably not an issue if you only go down a tooth or so.

drop 1 tooth off the front, no messing with chain sizes and its a good boost at the bottom end.

I've got a 1995 Kawasaki ZX6R, and decided to change the rear sprocket. I went up 5 teeth in the rear (stock sprocket size was not available). Take off was much quicker, but I lost about 10-15 mph off my top end. Also, bear in mind this will affect your revs, too. I found out I was running 50 mph in fifth gear at 5000 rpm, instead of the same readings in fourth!

I think the ratio is something like: if you drop one tooth in the front, it's about the same as going up 3 teeth in the rear.

My buddy Dan went down one tooth in the front and up three teeth in the rear. He's got a ZX9R, and he's hit 193 mph with that combo! Not quite sure of the mathematics for the ratios, but it's quicker on take off, and has a higher top end to boot.

Thank's guys that's been a great help as one bike shop told me to go bigger on the front but two others told me to go smaller . I will go and buy a smaller one in the morning. Thank's again

I have dropped 1 tooth from the front of my VFR750.

The speedo reading istaken from the front sprocket.

I have a Road Angel GPS camera detector wired in.
It'll give me a satalite based speed reading.

This is how is measures up.

Speedo 33mph
Angel - 30mph

Speedo 67mph
Angel 60mph

Speedo 100mph
Angel 85mph

I've done 100mph real speed a few times but have to say my eyes were on the road.
