My First Bike Project, Questions

Hiya,

I am thinking about putting a CR85cc engine into Peugeot xr6 chassis.

The CR85cc engine is highly tuned and very quick, it revs out to 14,000 rpm which is good for this type of engine. It came from my go kart, which I race, but since I am now old enough to do the seniour class I will be using 125cc engines so I got 2 very fast cr85 engines to fuck around with.

Basicly I dont really no much about bikes in general.. So I just wona ask a few questions about how certain things work.

One of the questions is how do the lights work!
I think the lights are rigged up to some sort of generator, on the flywheel im gessing, because you can push the bike forwards in gear and even lough the bike is not on the lights come on ( btw, the lights dont have an off switch, they are perminantly on, when this generator is moving.. )

My next question,
Has anyone attempted this sort of project? as in putting an engine inside another bike chassis, How did it go? Many problems?

Interesting project, is that the sports bike style bike?

Is the battery charged on the bike?

The normal way on a bike is for the lights to run off the battery, these run of a generator on the engine.

Where people put dedicated off road bikes on the road they usually have a seperate battery which they charge when not riding the bike. Or just don't worry too much about lights and use the battery for the MOT .

Yea its a sports bike, its a little one ( because it only has a 50cc engine in it, at the moment )

Im pretty sure the engine will fit, just a lil welding to do here an there maybe.

And I cant see how the lights are actually fitted on the batter, because when you push the bike forwards, in gear, the lights come on, even with the ignition off.

Someone's stuck a 426cc 4 stroke mx engine in a RS50, so I don't reckon a CR85 should be too much problem.

I explained how most bikes would work - not sure about the behaviour on this one.

Could it be an oddity and that it does it 'normally' when on and running as it was intended.

It could be an odd circuit made that bypasses stuff somehow when the ignition is off (the ignition off will probably make an earth somewhere to short out the ignition.)
