Help with Honda TRX125 needed

I have a 1986 Honda Fourtrax that I am trying to get running. It ran when it was parked six years ago, parked due to carb problems. I already cleaned the carb, etc. The battery was of course dead, I removed it and tried to start with an auto motive type battery. The green neutral light does not come on, and starter does not turn. It is in neutral. Main fuse is ok. I can manually put power to starter, and it turns (switch is "ON") but not getting a spark. Tried with another plug, still no spark. Not sure if coil is bad, or if something is still not on, as green light should come on when power is on.

Does anyone have or know a download for the electrical schematics on this bike? I am off this week and would really like to get it running.

Have you tried looking at your starter solenoid/relay? If no power is getting to the bike from the battery then this would be the main culprit. The ignition switch is also a possible cause, so perhaps get you multimeter onto it and see if the switch works okay.

You may be able to check the coils are okay by manually connecting them to a battery like you did with the starter motor. Not sure how things would work with an electronic ignition, but with points ignitions there is likely a separate live connection to the coils which you can feed power to. The bike should fire up that way if all is good.

It was the On/Off Keyswitch. I guess time ages things especially when they are not used for a while. Well, got the green light, and starter turns ok when start button is pushed. I have spark. Still will not crank. Will try again tomorrow, not sure how much I can strain the starter without burning it up. Seems like a carb problem now, to me, if I have spark. But i cleaned the carb ( I am not an expert by any means, but have cleaned carbs before) Maybe the float is broke, will take it apart tomorrow and check out. Seemed flooded, but wouldnt crank even if I opened the throttle wide open.

Can anyone offer advice on a good starting position for the air and jet screws. I have always just run in till they felt like the touched then back out about 6-8 half turns, then crank and tune by ear.

Try spraying some EasyStart into the airfilter or directly into the carb inlets if you aren't using one. Check that petrol is getting into the cylinders (either look at the sparkplugs, or whip the carbs off and check the inlet ports). Try covering the carb-inlet holes with your hands (as a kind of manual choke).

Hmmm Did the manual choke thing with hand, in air filter box (filter removed) and gas started coming out of hole into air box.
