this will probably get moved but I want to edit my bike photo's which is why I posted in here.

how do I colorise the photo, say for instance I have a red bike so I've selected the bits that I want to change colour so how do I change the colour of it without making it a solid coloue (i.e. keep light effects and reflections)??

thank you for your help in advance Very Happy

Lower the opacity of the colour. It will make the original colour tones show through. Adjust the level to your liking - make it fairly high though, or you'll get a mix with the old colour.

You could create a new layer in greyscale, which will alter the shade of the new colour if you alter the opacity. This will stop any of the old colour from mixing with the new, but you'll need to impose it over the old background colours later.
