A thought to discuss while i go to bed.

Why do males call their other male friends by their surname, i have never heard of a girl being called by her surname casually however i have loads more friends that i call by their surnames than by their first names and vise versa.

Meybe because men generally keep their surnames through out life, while women less so?

probably because calling a girl by her first name is more respectfull, and while calling a boy by his surname is like taking a dig at him.

i call all of my mates by their surnames, well.. the ones that have nicknameish surnames, (ie; whitie, hoody, etc)

and some call me by my surname,

i'd never call a girl by her surname. most girls surnames are less feminine.

i'd prefer to call a girl 'jess' than 'smith'

I doubt it'd work in Wales anyway because if someone asked for Jones in a pub they'd have half the bar looking at them!

I only call a couple of my friends by their surname. It has kinda just been that way since i first met them. I never call girls by their surname though, i dont like to think what would happen if i called me girlfriend 'brooks' instead of her first name...
