Did my CBT with Stuart. He works for Grangier School of Motorcycling in addition to running his own school. Good instructor. No complaints at all. That seems to be about the standard rate in warrington. The fee reflects the fact that all additional training till you pass is included. You pay only the test fee. The way it works for them is that if you pass at the first attempt, they make a profit. If you take up to 2 attempts, they break even. More than that, and they lose money on you. Toby, whatever you do stay away from Graingers, unless you want to ride round a carpark for a full hour while the instructor smokes several fags.
Well that was my experience of their services! I even had a valid CBT so was allowed out on the road too!

I can highly recommend Greg Lamb Motorcycle Training, I passed with them in 2001, and they are probably the best in Warrington and Chris the instructor is a very decent guy!

As for the place you posted I have never heard of them, plus it sound expensive though I spose its guarenteed you pass so if you don't you don't pay anymore (apart from another test fee) which is good.

My experience at Grangiers was completely different to what you describe. I cannot recommend them enough. Did both CBT and DAS with them. Passed first time. No shortage of riding time whatsoever. Mind you, if the instructor feels that your riding skills are not good enough yet for a big bike, they make you do additional sessions on a 125, which is fair enough. The only 1 hour I spent on the car park at Grangiers, was when I was on the ER-5 for the first time. The instructor needs to be convinced about your ability to control the bike at slow speeds, ability to cope with the weight and handling of the bike etc, before letting you out on the roads on a big bike. Letting inexperienced riders out on large bikes totally unfamiliar to them, is a surefire way of getting someone killed or injured. I'd be very wary of any school doing that. I haven't heard of any that does that.

I di my (restricted) test with Graingers too, as well as 2 CBTs, and I have to say that I would disagree with you as well Craig.

They were great with me, and I still pop in to see Malc on occasion now almost 2 years later.

I live just off Lovely lane. Not a very nice locality, but it could be worse. I ride a kawak ZR-7S.

Go for DAS even if you have to beg, borrow or steal the extra funds needed. It gives you so many more options after passing.

I suppose so, currently looking for bike projects I can make a little bit of cash on, nothing major, just getting something running, scrubbing it up, and selling on.
