what bike is better? an 02 Gixxer, standard blue/white. Low k's but been down the road and fixed up. OR 01 R6 with custom paint job, also low k's, arrow pipe, excellent condition but has raced a bit, but with good service history. Custom paint meaning like the 05 matt black with blue seat and blue on the sides somewhere (havent looked at it yet). ?????????? ROde the gixxer last nite being the first bigger bike ive ridden. Scared me a bit but I could ride it ok. Hard to touch the ground without big shoes on! Laughing

What price are they wanting ?
Unless they are a really good deal I'd look elsewhere.

Not sure how much of a decent test ride you can have on a bike in the dark, especially without footwear.

I'd go for an R6, performance stats are very similar (maybe the Gixer's got the edge on power/grunt) but the R6, for me, is the better looking bike and better built bike. When performance is pretty close anyway (on the road), details such as these sway my decision, so much so that I was contemplating an R6 as my next bike after the RVF.

I like the r6 as a race bike, but would go for the GSXR on the road.

Make sure the race bike engine doesn't jump out of gear - r6s are known to have slightly weak gear boxes and racing can make it worse.

raced is bugger all if its been well looked after, it can be raced on the roads its only a slight extra abuse on the track!

personally i was looking for an R6 but was low on money and the bike i got now came up very cheap for its age, condition etc!

what are the prices?

my intensions were as i have had a fairly big crash and well its bound to happen again one day, for my first few years of riding was to buy a scuffed up bike already especially as it devalues it, so if it does go down the road again your not as devistated etc!

if you are to get R6 get a bigger front profile as they like to tuck!

i like the gixxers and are very good road bike but personally id get R6, but then its not me deciding and money normally sways my vote lol! cheap skate!

Ok well I rode it at night but It was still light. It stays light here until about 9 or 930 in the summer. And I had shoes on! Um the Gixxer i think they want at least $9000 aus dollars, so I dont know how that converts to pounds, and bike prices may be different here. And for the R6 he wants $7500 but not sure if thats firm or not. I just really need to know which one will be scarier on the road. I was just thinking the r6 because I am fairly small and it seems more narrow than the gixxer

They are both very, very fast bikes.

You can tell the differences between them, but if you compare them to a 400sports or 1000sports bike, they will both seem pretty similar.

The R6 does have a bit more compact dimensions, but I'm not a fan of the short reach to the bars personally.
