The previous owner of my GPZ500 had it stored in his heated garage - which is why it's in such good condition.

However, he obviously re-painted his garage using a paint roller, but he forgot to cover up the bike. So, it's covered in tiny little specks of emulsion paint. Nothing noticeable from a short distance, but close-up they're bloody annoying!

I've been picking them away with my fingers for the last couple of hours and polishing off afterwards. It's working, but it's a bloody tedious job.

Anyone got any ideas as to how I can remove them 'in bulk' ?

Thanks Thumbs Up

EDIT: Ooops, Sorry. Posted in the wrong forum Embarassed
Can the Mods please move it to OT ?

Sandpaper?

(don't actually try this! Laughing)

Would petrol do it? if you do it quickly enough not to damage the bike paint?

Soapy water and the back of one of those cheap washing up sponges (with the green plastic scourer on it). I'd try it somewhere inconspicuous first to make sure it doesn't damage the paint.

T-cut?

That's the problem, Stinky.

Yes, the cheap scourer method works, but then I need to use T-Cut to polish out the scratches in the varnish - not the paint work, since this is not affected.

I've used T-Cut alone and it works just as well as the scourer method, but without the scratches. But it still seems to take ages to get rid of the paint spots.

Maybe I just need to persevere with the T-Cut on the paint work and just use the scourer on the seat Thumbs Up

Thanks for the advice Thumbs Up

Actually, petrol won't readily 'dissolve' emulsion paint, so it's not worth trying. Soapy water is better, but it still needs plenty of rubbing with an extremely mild abrasive Thumbs Up

Good idea though Thumbs Up

Just don't do it Razz

I do hope you're taking the piss. Razz

Personally I have found that fingernails are still one of the best things for it. A thickish feeler gauge might work without scratching too much.

Yep, I've got loads of plastic scrapers - even better than credit cards - and tried them too. But, they just knock the main 'blob' or head off the top of the paint, so I still need to polish out the rest of the 'stain' Mad

Used to make scrapers for getting old gasket off cylinder heads by cutting down one edge of a bit of copper pipe for about 1" then flattening the end out with a hammer. You would need to be careful but it would save your fingernails.

She already has in the past. And I'll tell ya' what, she can strip zits and spots better than a razor - without cutting into my skin Shocked

Sounds like she's the perfect alternative to soapy water and scrubbing Thumbs Up
